We think too much, that is the main problem and more than that, we judge our thinking much more, that makes it worse!

Dear Udai, Prashant, Friends,

the significance of heaven in these verses mean verily the pleasures that we normally enjoy right here in our own home, earth. Good and secured job, insurance policies and investments & savings for future, a good dream house, a dream spouse, ideal children, good position in society, respectibility, etc... these are the heavens that is to be understood.

These all arises due to our own prarabdha karmas. Prarabhda karma does not necessarily mean only bad things that happen to us, but also the good things that happen to us normally without any effort, say, if our lives are going freely without any trouble, that is also due to prarabhda only. Beware, this smooth ride is not permanent warns the Sage!

The Sage says, beware, these are not the end in itself, these are also bound to end very soon. All these things don't last, the good as well as the bad things that happen do not last.

We normally tend to hang over the good things of our life, job, family, friends, money, etc.. hoping that they would keep us secure, but, beware, says the Sage, it is all not going to last and once the Prarabhda Karmas for your good time ends, it shall all pass away and you will be back to square one. Therefore, do not consider these heavens as the end.

Upanishads sing,

न कर्मणा न प्रजया धनेन त्यागेनैके अमृतत्वमानशुः

Na Karmana Na Prajaya Dhanena Thyagenaike Amriatvamanashuh

Deathlessnes is not obtained through action, or begetting offspring, or wealth. Immortality is attained only through renunciation.

Therefore, like the Sudoko Puzzle can only be solved by cracking it with proper application of our mind with viveka to arrive at the goal. Therefore, we should not take our comfortable life as the end in itself. They are all like the passing clouds, the good as well as the bad things. All good things and bad things are not permanent!

We normally strive towards these worldly heavens, by study hard, get good education, become worldly smart, etc...

The Vedas have 2 kinds of education, Para Vidya and Apara Vidya

all the worldly education that gives us heavens is Apara Vidya and Atma Vidya is Para Vidya.  The Vedas say, Apara Vidya Avidya, Worldly education is Avidya or Ignorance, they sing! The education is incomplete without Para Vidya or the knowledge of Atma.

Salutations to Bhagavan

If you look subtly, you are trying to accept your own understanding of dvaita system. Your rebelling with yourself. You are accepting and rejecting your own views and opinions.

At all times, we are only rebelling with our own understandings of various things.

Once we find out the one that tries to understand all things, all differences would get sorted out and would not exist!

doubts after doubts keep coming about, once the doubter is sought, all doubts disappear. The problem is the doubter! (Ramana Maharshi)

For me, it is not about following Bhagavan or some Guru. My journey for searching for light ended with Bhagavan, I was sure. He has shown me the light, now, where ever I see anything, it reminds me of the parabrahma tatva, it reminds me of Arunachala Tatva.

He showed me that truth is within. the search for Guru ended long ago. Now, it is all only about working out ones own salvation with the light Bhagavan has blessed onto me. And, this light will never get lost! When I was lost in jungle, he revealed that follow the Sun light, I shall reach home, so, i need not bother about direction, I just follow the sun which rises in the east in the morning, and that is where the destination is.

Whole world is the same light. What ever i see, what ever events that happen, it only corresponds to the light that Bhagavan has blessed me. So I am able to see Bhagavan in everything, in every other Guru and non-Guru too, in every other thing that we may encounter. Be it when I see any Guru, Shirdi Sai Baba, Sringeri Acharyal, Paramacharya, anybody. Everybody out there looks like a Guru to me. sometimes even Gaddafi, Osama, Hitler...

For instance, the famous swami N who was in wrong news recently, even his words, if it is truth, corresponds with the light of Bhagavan, i am able to see the beauty of the truth or rather it reminds me of the same truth.

The truth does not become corrupt just because it is in presence of a corrupt.

Basically, he has blessed me the address, its upto me to reach the destination, ofcourse with his grace.

Its like having seen the secret of a mantra, for example, if we take

Sri Rama Rama Rameti Rame Rame Manorame, Sahasranaama Tattulyam Rama Nama Varanane

normally the above shloka means that repeating Rama Rama Rama just 3 times is as good as repeating thousand names of Vishnu. We usually chant the entire shloka 3 times, but when we look within subtly, we will understand as follows -

After having known the efficacy of this great shlokam, i used to go on repeating this shloka fully. then one day, it flashed to me that this shloka, actually is a formula, it has in it some secret hidden message, and this secret was actually that, just chanting the name of Rama itself is the direction to reach the destination, you see, first the shloka was a formula, and the hidden message was that just chanting Rama Rama is greatest sadhana, so next, it was a light or order, to me to move to the next step, no need to chant the shlokam and the shloka indicated to chant Rama Rama. and there is no purpose of chanting the entire shloka again when this has been discovered.

When we are lost in roads, and the above shloka is like the address that we have in a slip of paper, and, with which we ask people the way to the address till we realise and understand the direction properly, that is keep asking (chanting) the address again and again. And they respond back giving the direction, that is revealing the secret of Rama. Untill we are able to grasp the address, the directions, we keep asking for direction, i.e. keep chanting the mantra again and again.

After having received the direction (really grasping the direction), what would it mean if we go and ask again another person(Guru after Guru) the direction showing him the paper(chanting the shlokam again and again). Now, having known the address, we have to just travel as per the direction of the address (chanting just the name Rama, Rama)

Every person who reveals us the address each time is Guru. For me, it happened to be Ramana Maharshi. It could be anybody. ordinary person.

similarly, the address of the destination, Amritatva is

Sri Rama Rama Rameti Rame Rame Manorame, Sahasranaama Tattulyam Rama Nama Varanane

and the way to reach the address, direction given is

Rama Rama Rama

Tatva. I am confident, where ever I go, I will never get lost. If I am thrown to some unknown Guru, or some unknown religion, forcibly, or put into an atheist group, or in some prison, I will never get lost. Bhagavan has shown me the Amritatva. He has revealed the secret.

Guru is remover of darkness. He shows the way. We have to reach to the Amritatva. Shirdi Sai Baba says, you first take one step and I shall bring you along with me the remaining 99 steps.

Everybody and everything is Ramanar for me.

May be you could have bath twice a day, use sandal paste, drink lot of water. Stick to your Sadhana, divert your mind to your sadhana whenever you seem to get carried away by agitations of mind. Don't worry much about body, keep reminding that I am not body, and divert the same energies to your sadhana. Transcend your body consciousness by focusing on your sadhana.

salutations to Bhagavan

Dear Kicsi108,

Things will take their own shape. Allow things to happen as they occur. just be. Without any attempt!

Do not worry about your spiritual benefits or worry about your practial benefit.

Just wait, Just be! What else can you?

Do not analyse, how you could use or turn what ever is happening for spiritual benefit. just remember His will prevails. See what happens by allowing them, moment by moment.

Patience, patience, remain patient. wait. Meanwhile, keep going antharmukham, diving within!

Dear Krishnan,

i have a simple advice, just stop judging yourself   :)

allow yourself, some space, as you are!

Salutations to Bhagavan

Dear Udai,

Srimad Bhagavata begins with "satyam param dhimahi", and also ends with "satyam param dhimahi" meaning

"May we meditate upon the ultimate Truth"

It is said that the entire essence of Srimad Bhagavata is found in these 3 words itself. So do the verse in Vasishta too!

As a matter of reflection, such division of Varnas in Sanathana Dharma can be compared to the Military Hirarchy, starting from Lieutenant then Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, ... so on till the General.

It will be surpriing to really see the kind of respects the hirarchy pays to their seniors based on ranks. I have seen the kind of humbleness with which the junior conducts with his superior, infact, even lower cadre official bends down below to his superior while handing over something to his superiror, now what to say about this?  those who have acquaintance with Military may know, for a shallow person, it could seem abuse of seniority or hierarchy, but only the uniform discounts people from thinking thus and people who talk ill about Varna fail to see the real essense. But we don't call it Caste problem. It is a carefully devised system for some very obvious reasons!

We cannot go about preaching that all are equal and that everybody is one and the same. The Varna system issues have deteriorated only due to shallow thinking human beings.

Our Sages who set the Varna system could not be so shallow, so as to have deliberately made the Brahmins the highest in the varna. There is no Higher or Lower in Varna. Sages who talk about Varna are Vasishta, Apasthamba, Boudhayana, who are all reputed to be Jivanmuktas and some also were part of the Sapta Rishi's.

We usually go by the half baked politicians who have carefully stamped the caste for their votes, and, Caste as deviced by oliticians is here to stay. While the wise Varna system devised by Sages is no longer relevant.

General topics / Musings...
« on: February 05, 2012, 10:51:45 AM »
This post was prompted by a simple question asked by Swayam in the topic and the responses thereof. On some contemplation, i came about with my musings as follows -

Knowledge alone relieves. Stopping a thought process ain't going to help really! We could use all our manly efforts with deep fervor to stop some thought pattern without really understanding it, but, eventually, we will only cause damage to ourselves.

The way to go about is proper scrutinisation and proper understanding of everything. Krishna's famous revelation in the Bhagavad Gita, that we have right to only act and not on its fruits, and, that it is best to dedicate the fruits to God, is not some proverb or diktat. It ought to be properly understood and only then it makes sense. Otherwise, it becomes like what happened in Russia. The banned The Bhagavad Gita. I do not blame them. Their worry is true. They felt that Bhagavad Gita encourages fighting for Krishna asked Arjuna to fight  They are true, but we without properly understanding are blindly believing Krishna, Ramana, Ramakrishna without proper discernments.

There is no possibility of surrendering the fruits to God without proper understanding. It only amounts to blind belief and blind belief is not going to help in life. A person who wants to make millions of $ is better than a person who lives in a life of penury, who talks about spirituality and makes claims that one has right over only action and not its fruits, life is for only realization, etc… without really knowing what he is saying so. It is like a Sanyasi who thinks about world compared to a Gruhasta who things about Sanyasa!

Every thought has a cause. The cause is a desire to enjoy some fruits. Some notion, that, by doing something, we will be happy. Unless, we, by ourselves, properly understand the dynamics of thought process, we will never be able to be like Krishna or be like the famous verse of his - surrendering the fruits of action. We are merely repeating the words uttered by Krishna, Ramana, Ramakrishna, etc... But the fact is what they have said is not yet REAL in our case. For instance, we still derive happiness from the world more than the desire to realise the Self and we try to suppress ourselves out of happiness we are deriving just because Krishna has said so, or, Ramana has said so, or, just because scriptures says so. We go about and claim that everybody has to realise the Self. We all have shades of hypocracy in us. The reason is due to lack of proper discernment.

Bhagavan says, for every thought, there is this 'I' that is the substratum of all thoughts. He says, enquire where from this 'I' originates. Untill this is properly discerned, all these quotes about surrendering fruits to God, all is God, all remain mere book knowledge.
Now, if Krishna has said so, or, Ramana has said so, we believe that there is truth in it blindly, because of their stature. Yes they do have that stature, but that does not mean that we begin to blindly impose onto ourselves what they say without really understanding. Krishna has said so, so I should not expecting fruits for my actions, Ramana has said so, so I should enquire who am I. We all have to study, go to the basics, the roots and begin. I felt.

We ought to, (no other option) but to properly dedicate ourselves properly in understanding the scheme of things independently. Now, Krishna has said something, Ramana Maharshi has said something, Vedanta says something, now let me sit and scrutinise things myself independently and see for myself what really it is.

This is Tapas. One has to work out one’s own salvation. And, it is not going to help by just saying this moment, that, I surrender my fruits to God and resume our worldly duties. That is Unconscious surrendering of fruits, it is just like sleep, the world resumes once again after sleep! It remains as Karma still continues. Only proper understanding shall relieve one from all his Karmas.

"I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief, such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their selfesteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation."

Salutations to Bhagavan

Dear Swayam,

Bhagavan simplys says, to stop brooding about past and worrying about the future and stick and utilize the to the present moment consciously for only this moment is reality. This moment is free of any sins and karma.

Perhaps the biggest caste problem is between the "Jivatma" and "Paramatma"
