Dear Sri Nagaraj, If someone says I am Brahman,he doasnt say I am realised. Those are two different things. His conviction doasnt imply He is egoistic,or not, like conviction I am humble doasnt mean someone dont have an ego. Vivekananda also said You are Divine, and He have an ego,but that doasnt mean He was not right.

Dear Sri Jewel,

I do not know for what you are saying this to me, but what you have said, should hold true to me as well, as it is! if i have said something is not right in spirit, it doesn't mean it is meant somebody is saying he is realised or egoistic. my conviction too doesn't imply that i am pin pointing somebody just for argument sake, I am harsh, doesn't mean there is no humility.

with prayers and love,

The teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi / Re: how to do self enquiry

But when ignoring the thoughts aren't we involuntarily 'concentrating' on the "I"?

in a way, we can say yes. We can't even say, it is concentrating on the 'I' but we can say, concentrating on "Being" Bhagavan says somewhere, in the lines of the essence, that which negates/ignores everything, itself cannot be ignored - Being as is, or being as That is what is aimed. The rest falls in the realms of personal experience, cannot be bought into communication spheres.

But, we have to be cautious, the moment we stop here, concluding as thus -

But when ignoring the thoughts aren't we involuntarily 'concentrating' on the "I"?

we are again getting caught in idea, even this should be transcended, go beyond even this! We should be cautious not to get caught in conclusions, that is the greatest impediment as it is very subtle, can go unnoticed.

In fact, there is no one who does not say ‘I am’.

Infact, even nirvAna shatkam says shivA am I, this is bhakti bhAvA

no body has said "Aham BrahmAsmi" because, there can be no ego left to say that.

2405
One believing, affirming oneself not bound is appreciative, but "I am brahman" doesn't!

Take the case of bhakti - I approach Iswara and pray to be absorbed in Him. I then surrender myself in faith and by concentration. What remains afterwards? In place of the original ‘I’, perfect self-surrender leaves a residuum of God in which the ‘I’ is lost. This is the highest form of devotion (parabhakti), prapatti, surrender or the height of vairagya. You give up this and that of ‘my’ possessions. If you give up ‘I’ and ‘Mine’ instead, all are given up at a stroke. The very seed of possession is lost. Thus the evil is nipped in the bud or crushed in the germ itself. Dispassion (vairagya) must be very strong to do this. Eagerness to do it must be equal to that of a man kept under water trying to rise up to the surface for his life.

D.: If there be a hundred Self-realised men will it not be to the greater
benefit of the world?

M.: When you say ‘Self’ you refer to the unlimited, but when you add
‘men’ to it, you limit the meaning. There is only one Infinite Self.

The realised being does not see the world as different from himself.

there are no others to be helped. For a realised being sees the Self, just like a goldsmith estimating the gold in various jewels. When you identify yourself with the body then only the forms and shapes are there. But when you transcend your body the others disappear along with your body-consciousness.

The teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi / Re: how to do self enquiry

Sri Krishnan,

According to me, Self Enquiry is not a technique, it varies from person to person based on ones pakvA. Fundamentally, to put it very simply, from my limited understanding, it is all about ignoring thoughts* and engaging in tracing of the thinker, the source!

*All questions and answers are thoughts

Dear Nagaraj,
:) You see me through your interpretations!! which is why all that!

Sri Tushnim, i am giving you the taste of your own sweet to you.

:)

2412
Sri Tushnim,

we have known each other for few years now, hence i feel, we can talk freely. As you are mySelf, i see there is a strong feeling of "I am Brahman" in you.

You are getting stuck in knowledge, perhaps after over weighing ignorance, go beyond this knowledge garbage.

Bhagavan has said, there is no jnyAnI, there is only jnyAnam. give up the possessor too!

Do you see, that, to whom you are trying to show light is yourself and nobody else? its a losing battle, give up the knowledge baggage!

your own light,

Somebody is avoiding questioning oneself  ;)

Sri Tushnim,

Please see this revelation of Bhagavan,

“My” implies the “I”, which owns the senses. You take your existence for granted; at the same time ask others to prove it to you. Similarly you admit the certainty of your senses, which see others, whilst denying all certainty. You see how you contradict yourself. The fact is that there are no others: there is no such a person as “you”. Each man, although addressed as “you”, styles himself as “I”. Even the confirmation you demand from others comes only from the “I”. “You” and “they” occur only to the “I”, without which they are meaningless.

then reflect, Who is imposing as you have said -

and everyone is constantly meditating "i am bound"!!! -- this in Ramana's forum!

you will realise that you are talking just about yourself! not anybody in the forum

Friend, the above is the father of all assumptions :)

first you find out friend, then you can relieve others, if others are separate from you, then!
