See without the seer.
Think without the thinker.
Observe without the observer.
Act without the actor.
See the truth without any fixation of truth.

Subramanian sir, Sri Atmavichar,

i am urged to post again the wonderful maatru panchakam of the Adi Shankara, very moving it is -

These five verses are said to have been composed by Sri Sankara on the death of his mother. When he left his home as a wandering ascetic he promised his mother that on her death he would come to cremate her.

aasthaam tavaddeyam prasoothi samaye durvara soola vyadha,
nairuchyam thanu soshanam malamayee sayya cha samvatsaree,
ekasyapi na garbha bara bharana klesasya yasya kshmo dhathum,
nishkruthi  munnathopi thanaya tasya janyai nama.

The unbearable pain endured by her at the time of delivery,
the lack-lustre feeling and the emaciation of the body during
pregnancy, the year-long sharing of the bed dirtied by the
baby, none of these sufferings borne by the mother because of
pregnancy can be compensated in the least by a son, however
great he may be. Salutations to that mother.

gurukulamupasruthya swapnakaale thu drushtwa,
yathi samuchitha vesham praarudho maam twamuchai
gurukulamadha  sarva prarudathe samaksham
sapadhi charanayosthe mathurasthu pranaama.

Having dreamt of me as clad in the robes of an ascetic, she
rushed to the gurukula where I was studying and wept aloud.
The entire grurukulam also wept with her at once. O mother,
salutations to your feet.

ambethi thathethi shivethi tasmin,
prasoothikale yadavocha uchai,
krishnethi govinda hare mukunde tyaho,
janye rachito ayamanjali.

O mother, who at the time of delivery cried aloud in pain, “O
mother, O father, O Lord Siva, O Krishna, O Govinda, O Hari,
O Mukunda”, I offer this obeisance to you.

na dattam mathasthe marana samaye thoyamapi vaa,
swadhaa vaa no dheyaa maranadivase sraadha vidhina
na japtho mathasthe marana samaye tharaka manu,
akale samprapthe mayi kuru dhayaam matharathulaam.

O mother, I did not give you even water at the time of death.
I am barred from performing the prescribed religious rites for
you on your death anniversary. O mother, I could not chant
the ‘taraka mantra’ for you at the time of death. O mother,
bestow your incomparable compassion on me who was late in
coming.

Note. Sri Sankara Bhagavatpada had promised his mother
that, wherever he was, he would come to her bedside at the
time of her death. He came and performed her cremation, in
spite of opposition from the members of his community on the
ground that, being a sannyasin, he had no right to perform the
funeral rites.

mukthaa manisthvam, nayanam mamethi,
rajethi jeevethi chiram sthutha thwam,
ithyuktha vathya vaachi mathaa,
dadamyaham thandulamesh shulkam.

When you fondled me as a child these affectionate words
came out of your mouth: “You are a jewel, you are my eyes, O
my dear one, my son, may you live long!”. To that mouth I am
now giving these dry grains!

Note. One of the rites before cremation is putting dry rice into
the mouth of the deceased. Sankara laments that he has to do
this for his mother from whose mouth words of great affection
had emanated.

Eliminate the ‘sage’: forget ‘wisdom’

People will be a hundred times better off.
Eliminate ‘benevolence’: forget ‘rectitude’,
And people will have filial piety.
Eliminate cleverness: forget profit,
And there’ll be less thieves and rogues.
Superficial things are insufficient,
What is needed is all-embracing.
Exhibit the unadorned.
Hold fast to the un-carved block.
Avoid the thought of Self.
Eliminatpitye desire.

The Way   - cannot be told.

The Name - cannot be named. The nameless is the Way of Heaven and Earth. The named is Matrix of the Myriad Creatures.Eliminate desire to find the Way.Embrace desire to know the Creature. The two are identical,But differ in name as they arise.Identical they are called mysterious,Mystery on mystery,The gate of many secrets.

There is a distinction between desire and longing. Desire is initiated by the small magnet. Longing is the attraction of the big magnet felt when the impurities of the small magnet has reduced.

This pull of the bigger magnet also explains why whole is intuitively felt when only part is revealed. It is difficult to put this in words.

Sri Ramakrishna said that this longing is also a grace of God.
Those who feel it cannot adequately convey it to others.

This is the longing of Hanuman, pulled by the bigger magnet, that is Rama. Sometimes, we don't even want enlightenment, but this longing is ambrosia, it is everything. It is indeed wonderful to be like a hanuman rather Rama, and Rama rather Hanuman, Rama was devoted to Hanuman was devoted to Rama. thank you.

Yes, we are Sat-Chid-Ananda already. But we are not enlightened already.

All are but pervaded by Thee -
Thus may Thou be described,
So proclaim the Rig and rest of Vedas.
This is what the goodly Gurus have taught.
There is none other than this,
That have I full realized.
Having realized it,
I have not reached the state of Bliss,
But thus I stand,
That too is Thy Grace -
So Thou intimated within this ignorant one.
But now tell me what is the way of redemption?
Thou, the God of Compassion Fullness
That dances in rapture in the chit sabha
Defying description!

Develop love of God. All other forms of love are not love at all but only fleeting and impermanent attachments. Man's biggest folly is forgetting his Divinity. All should realize that they come from God. All are children of God. Everyone should seek to get nearer and nearer to God. That is spiritual practice (sadana). You must feel that God dwells in your heart ( hridayavasi). You must develop compassion in the heart, because without it, the heart is only a stone.

That is the message of Jesus: The message of love. Love is God. Live in love. Start the day with love. Spend the day with love. End the day with love. This is the way to God. Only the person who is filled with love will be dear to the Lord.

Today, devotees from many countries are here: Germany, Japan, and others. Whatever happiness you may have experienced here, you will have to go back to your countries when your money is exhausted or your visa expires. Your aim must be to acquire a permanent visa to stay here permanently. That is got by God's grace. You can get it through love and love alone. When you have that love, your proximity to God is ensured for ever.

Embodiments of Love! There is love in everyone of you. Develop that love. Share it with others. When you have this love there is no need for you to go in search of ashrams. Some foolish people hop from one ashram to another. This is sheer folly. There is no need to go anywhere. The Divine is in your heart. Adhere to one belief firmly. Don't change your faith from day to day. Follow one path with firm faith. That is the Love principle.

    Vanish slowly behind
the events of your life
don’t become them.

There is a silence of freedom.
There is inviolable mind
in the space of the dark.

Cast a veil, and obscure the root.
You are not what you were,
move on beyond.

Bodies do not define us,
the shell of the earth,
we are the fire.

Move away silent
behind the face of your life.
Secretly become.

Friends,

Lets accept our lives and live it nicely, by living our lives in the dharmic way, we truly expend our vasanas, and allow the natures way to prevail.

It is the will of Self that our life continue, with the light of Self, we ought to live our life well, which station we are in.

Trying to Just be is ignorance.

There is a very beautiful song from Tamiz movie penned by Kannadasan:

(1) satti suttadhadaa,
kai vittadhadaa

The mud pot got baked,
hence it left the hand  (The clay of the mud pot no longer sticks in the hand , and hence leaves it)

(2) buththi kettadhadaa
nenjai thottadhadaa

Similarly the intellect ( mind) has collapsed ( matured)
Wisdom(heart) has dawned in me , ( The mind no longer wants the materialistic needs)

(3) naalum nadandhu mudindha pinnal
nalladhu kettadhu therindhadhadaa

only after all the things happened,
I knew which are good and which are bad.

(4) paadhi manadhil dheyvam irundhu paarththu kondadhadaa
meedhi manadhil mirugam irundhu aatti vaiththadhadaa

In one half of my heart the god was present and took care,
however in the remaining half the beast was present and made me dance to its tunes.

(5) aatti vaiththa mirugam indru adangivittadhadaa

Now the beast to whose tunes I was dancing to , has diminished ( subsided)

(6) amaidhi theivam mulu manadhil koyil kondadhadaa

as a result , the whole heart is now taken over by the silent god and transformed it into a temple  ( and peace remains)

(7) aaraavaara peygalellaam odivittadhadaaa
alayamani osai nenjil koodivittadhadaa

All the loud demons ( materialistic desires , greed, show off etc ) have run away,
The sound of the temple bell has filled my heart ( the path to god and eternity has dawned into me).

(8)dharma dhevan kovililae oli thulangudhadaa

At the temple of  lord of dharma (God)  , I can see the light ignited

(9)manam saanthi saanthi saanthi yendru oyvu kondadhadaa

The heart is saying peace , peace , peace and is getting freed from anxiety

(10) erumbuth thoalai uriththu paarkka yaanai vandhadhadaa
naan idhayath thoalai uriththup paarkka nyaanam vandhadhadaa

when the skin of ant  was peeled , an elephant emerged ,
In the same way I peeled my heart and saw knowledge emerge ( enlightenment)

(11) pirakkum munne irundha ullam indru vandhadhadaa

today I am getting the (state of) heart , that was , before my birth (pure)

(12) irandha pinne varum amaidhi vandhu vittadhadaa

I am experiencing the silence that comes after death

Proving the truth for ego's sake and for Truth's sake, both are meaningless.
