Unless one follows the principle, “That which is essential to be reformed is only my own mind”, one’s mind will become more and more impure by seeing the defects of others.

On The sacred day of Sivaprakasam Pillai Day- January 12, 2013 - we present the English translation of a rare work by him.

Sri Ramana Vachana Saaram

Translation by Devotees

This is the essence; This is the essence!
This indeed is the essence of Ramana’s words!
Tell me who is the real You! Seek the real You!
You are not surely the putrid flesh.
The body is born, the body dies.
The body knows not itself in deep sleep.
You are Knowledge. Knowledge is You.
Knowledge-Eternal is never born nor dies.
In sleep is Awareness of Self, not of body
You alone witness absence of body-consciousness
Do not all know that body takes birth
Is there anybody who is aware of birth of Consciousness?
You are not the body as declared above.
Destroy the false notion that you are the body
Seek ceaselessly your real nature
Think no other thought.
If the root thought ‘I am the body’
Subside; then all other thoughts subside.
‘Who is aware of the body’ -This quest
Alone will eliminate ‘I am the body’ notion.
The deluded one who thinks ‘I am the body’
Will crave for food, clothes and desires thereon
He who is free from the delusion ‘I am the body’-
His mind will not crave for food, clothes and desires extensive
Even as the end draws nigh, get not perturbed
Be tranquil; it is all God’s work
Ponder not the body is one, two or three(gross, subtle or causal)
Vain is such pursuit.
If you observe attentively
There is no scope for body-consciousness at all
Reject all appearance that seems apart [from You]
Reject it as ‘Not I’
All other dogmas and tenets are garbage-like collections
Remove them all away.
Repeatedly questing ‘Who am I’
The I-thought alone stays
The rest will be ashes.
When I-thought gets burnt away
Know that ‘That is the Real You’; bereft of thought
That which neither rises nor sets is the Real You shinning effulgent
As the Self shines like the resplendent Sun
Be that, never falling back
This is the essence, this is the essence,
This indeed is the essence of Ramana’s Teaching.

This is true worship

Sri Hari,

This is nothing more than a sectarian view. Quoting this statement is somehow not proper for a forum dedicated to Sri Ramana. According to His views all Gods are One God Who at the end is realized as the Self or I am. I am in a way disappointed that after being so many months, even years in this forum we still come to statements or topics like this one.

what is conveyed below is nothing that is already not known to you,

Sectarian, Non Sectarian - all are just views,

If there is Sectarian, then there is Non Sectarian as well, and,

If there is Non Sectarian, then there is Sectarian as well.

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, so do the notions of what is proper and what is improper.

A wise old Zen master, very near death, lay quietly on his mat with his eyes closed, all his disciples gathered around. Kneeling closest to him was his number one disciple, a longtime practitioner who would succeed the old man as head of the monastery. At one point the old master opened his eyes, and lovingly gazed at each and every one of his disciples assembled in the crowded room. Finally his glance rested on his successor, and he managed to speak his last words to the man: “Ah, my son, you have a very thorough knowledge of the teachings and scriptures, and you have shown great discipline in keeping the precepts. Your behavior has, in fact, been flawless. Yet there is one more thing remaining to be cleared up: you still reek and stink of ‘Zen’!”

In Mahabharatha, there is a parable which stands testimony to Yudhishtra’s  inherent greatness when compared with Duriyodhana. One day Duriyodhana is summoned and asked to bring one good man from the earth. In the evening a disillusioned Duriyodhana returns, grumbling about how there isn’t one decent man left on the face of the earth. The very same day, Yudhishtra returns, shaking his head in utter dismay, genuinely unable to spot ONE BAD man, on which endeavour he was sent!! Each saw in the world what he found himself to be. Much as Duriyodana tried to rule the kingdom and prove his supremacy, it is proven beyond doubt that he must have been a tormented man, unhappy with himself on the core level. While Yudhishtra was intrinsically happy and contented even when he was in the forest, divested of the kingdom and the honours of a princely life!

This would be the greatest test of true spirituality – when one is unable to judge or condemn another human being, unable to hate, regardless of how different or even obnoxious he may be, it is only THEN that the individual is truly spiritual.

This post of past maybe of meaningful context here -

Remembering Swami Vivekananda on the 150th birth anniversary. Sri Ravi, thanks for your series of posts on Swami Vivekananda. I am sure, there will seldom be a spiritual person and who has some spiritual books, and who will not have at least one book that is published by Ramakrishna Math. We all owe our gratitude to the Great Saint, who was the 20th Century Shankara who lit the light of Sanathana Dharma yet again. Swamiji's life does remind us a similarity with that of Adi Shankara, who also lived for a short span of life and whose talks were so powerful as the thunder.

Imagining how i would have flourished without a Ramakrishna Math and the repository of books that hey have published over the years. I can never forget the wonderful pocket sized books that i used to buy and get from others, which are gigantic in spirit even though they are small. They have verily stamped in my heart the spirit of Sanathana Dharma and have even been the guiding principles since then.

I found one of the books that is simply wonderful, sharing the same with you all, simple click the link and download.

The Yoga sutras of Patanjali 2, 27 conveys the following:

तस्य सप्तधा प्रान्तभूमिः प्रज्ञा

Tasya saptadhaa praantabhumih prajnyaa

That final/ultimate truth stage or level of supreme wisdom is manifested sevenfolds*:

The seven folds were also conveyed by Sri Nochur Acharya in one of his talks,

*
  • जिज्ञासा निवृत्ति  Jijnyaasa nivrutti  -  Free from desire to know or learn
  • जिहासा निवृत्ति  Jihaasaa nivrutti  -  Free from desire of giving up
  • प्रेप्सा निवृत्ति  Prepsaa nivrutti  -  Free from assumptions, supposition, free from desire to obtain
  • चिकीर्षा निवृत्ति  chikeershaa nivrutti  -  Free from desire of any form of doing or volition
  • दुःख निवृत्ति  dukha nivrutti  -  Free from distresses
  • भय निवृत्ति  bhaya nivrutti  -  Free from fears
  • आत्मस्थिति  aatmasthitih  -  [it is simple] Being
