The insanity of bureaucrats and businessmen is mind boggling...I wonder if these people are can someone not love a tree and that too those in the most sacred place of the world which keeps on giving and giving and not demanding anything from any one living....I will never understand the cause to fell

Dear Friends,

Ultimately Arunachala's will prevails. I would like to express couple of my thoughts. Some of the readers may not agree, but these need to be pondered upon!

It is definitely a sad plight. But let us also be fair. While I support my heart all out for this cause, still the other side ought to be fairly seen.

Tiruvannamalai, is a developing city and a thriving city and more people are making it their homes. We cant blindly write-off the need of the city to develop. The need for the path to be made bigger to cater to the needs of the OVER-FLOWING people.

Let us be fair that even devotees visit on the purnima days specially in lakhs.

In the name of devotion people are destroying the nature. It is not all that bureaucrats to blame, are the so called devotees doing any service to the Holy place? They come in huge volumes and DIRTY the place! The common man is more worried about his bread and butter! A country of population of 1.25 billion, what do we expect?

We would not be right in criticizing the bureaucrats. If the place has to cater to lakhs of people then the inevitable will happen.

We cant have only sweetmeats all time! Let us face the fact that we indians lack Cleanliness and external discipline! and we have to pay the price for our indiscipline collectively!

We may use all forces and stop today, but for how long? say another 10 years? afterwards? what is the way?

Do we people in India treat our sacred places like Japan's Kyoto?

No, The matter of fact is it is not there in the nature of we Indians, Change is the only inevitable fact and our ancestors have very well understood this.

We are pained at the trees being cut, but is it possible to curtail the number of visitors coming to Arunachala? Is it possible? Is the Human ready to sacrifice for the tree to stay? While one side it is impossible to curtail the human, the humble ones - Trees become the scape goat.

We all people, collectively are MORE TO BLAME OURSELVES more than the bureaucrats. Part of the bulk blame goes to the so called Astrologers who are responsible for the fame of Girivalam!

It pains, it will pain, but what has to happen will happen!

Homo sapiens!!

Night is more real and genuine than the day. The Day fools you around!
Sleep if need be in the day, but be awake in the nights, and observe.

General Discussion / The Importance of Being Alone
« on: July 06, 2016, 11:19:25 PM »
Are we truly going within? We may easily get used to a spiritual routine and miss the main purpose... it is a matter of fact that we are alone and how well are we acquianted with ourselves can only be known in times of solitude. is it simply enough knowing that you are the Self and Brahman and you are untouched?

This article may open gates to deeper insights. I have posted a couple of excerpts... kindly follow the link if it be of interest to you.

The Importance of Being Alone by Swami Krishnananda

A sincere disciple, a seeker, one day put a question to me: ?If I have to enter the Absolute today, what sadhana should I practise?? While I appreciated the question very much, I also felt the seriousness that is involved in not only the question itself, but the background of the entire thought process in this connection. My answer to this question was at once: ?You have to melt into liquid and become one with everything. This is the sadhana that you have to do if you want to enter the Absolute today.? But who is prepared to melt into liquid? We are hard as flint. Even flint is not as hard as we are. Our attachments are very severe; even iron chains are not as strong as our attachments. But we are self-deluded people, under the notion that we have no attachments. We are immersed in a quagmire, but are under the notion that we are walking along a beaten track which takes us straight to God.

A great thinker and mystic once put it in a beautiful style: The path spiritual is the flight of the alone to the Alone. It is not a multitude going to God. Such a thing is unthinkable. Very important it is to remember that we are alone in this world even now. Even today, even at this very moment, we are alone.

We should not be under the impression we have got many friends around us. This is a false notion. The so-called friends and relations that we have around us in the form of human beings and possessions of various kinds are a false environment created around us to delude us and dupe us into the wrong path. These possessions, friends, relations, etc., are not going to help us when we are in a critical moment or in time of danger, because our relationship to people is artificial. Anything that is artificial will not last long. Our connection with other people in this world is not genuine, not natural, not organic; and, therefore, it cannot work when the time for it comes. Why is it so? It is because, to put it in a very philosophical jargon, the connection of a subject with an object is makeshift. It is a contrivance brought about for sensory perception and a false feeling of fulfilment, and for bringing about a sense of satisfaction to the ego-ridden individuality.

Giving up the non truth* is very painful, but it is one very bitter medicine we have to swallow!

*originally i wanted to use non self. But now i am more comfortable with using the word truth. We may say self is truth, i'd rather have no other alternative for the word truth!

if you are the first living being here now! You have no past, there are no past knowledge, no past gurus, gods, theories, scriptures... nothing! Can you see originally by yourselves without any knowledge as the first man/woman?

All spiritual theories and gods fail at some point, no matter how much one may sermonize! There you just can't not admit your helplessness on the fact that no answers were really good enough! Nobody knows! You will see for yourself that you have only been trying to convince yourself so long!

You then slowly learn, begin to stand on your own legs!

The only god and theory that has truly been of some substance is compassion. all else is only junk!

Anbe Sivam. Leave out even that Siva!

Anbe !!

Thanks Balaji, for sharing a beautiful article on Graham.
Truly a blessed soul! What a force of grace that pulled him from Britain here!

what is a thought made of ?
what is the substance of a thought ?

Dear friend, thought is made up of the same substance from where it arises.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

I felt, we would be doing great service to Arunachala Ksetram by simply being in our place, in constant remembrance of Arunachala within! The Ksetram is flooded with people every Purnima and big festival days and how much the place can take in?

Bhagavan's Vichara is most appropriate to our times and is greatly beneficial to Mother Nature. Simply by being where we are, we render lot of help to the geographical and biological aspects of Mother nature!

Having got the message of Bhagavan, it would be in the best interest to abide and meditate within and not develop this desire to keep visiting Arunachala. Also, the number of visitors to Asramam have increased by the day and is only going to increase in days to come!

Having said as above, still grace wills and commands differently!

Follow your heart!

Dear Dr Sundaram, Sadhak and friends,

Thank you, It is our duty I felt to do as much as little as we can! In place of the trees had it been our children or kith and kin, how would we run and do what not?

I wonder...., we, 'Homo sapiens' are the worst among the living species, if some of the good lot can take at least minimal steps as this by just participating in such instances, would be the minimum expected!

No wonder, Self Realisation is only for Homo Sapiens!

The other species are far ahead, living in harmony with nature!

All a divine play! Sometimes such plays are bewildering!

The Supreme will prevails!
