The Arunachala Mahatmyam was serialised in The Mountain Path in English in the 60s and 70s. A bound copy of all the installments is in the ashram library. Motilal Banarsidass also brought out a translation in their Purana translation series. It is part of the Skanda Purana, but the portion that contains Arunachala Mahatmyam is in a separate book.

The Arunachala Puranam has never been published in English, but  a translation of the chapter about King Vallalan's quest for a son was published in The Mountain Path about twenty years ago.

The  work with Sri Bhagavan had its rigours as well as its pleasures. Though he was all mercy and grace, he was at the same time a strict disciplinarian. He would not tolerate the least sloppiness. Everything had to be done to perfection. Nothing was to be wasted or spoiled. He would demand full attention and implicit obedience to his directions. One night a devotee who was an advocate insisted on sharing in the work. He was asked to shift a vessel containing sambar, and while he was doing so a few drops were spilled. At once Sri Bhagavan flared up and said : " You are only fit for arguing in court. Such work is not for you." The poor man never again volunteered.

O Mother Unnamulai

O Mother Unnamulai, you are the only support for me.
I, the worst sinner, have no other support than you.
Please bear with my mistakes and sins. Even if you decide
to punish me a little bit, how can I bear it? Is it dharma for you?

O Mother Unnamulai, I do not chant anything other than
Shiva’s name, the god who consumed poison from the milky ocean.
I have not gone through the ways of my senses. Why then
do you punish me, mother, the substance of all Vedas.
Do not hate me lest I am lost.

O Mother Unnamulai, Who else is there excepting you as
my refuge? How can a mother fail to take care of the child
born to her? Who else is my mother, other than you?

O Mother Unnamulai, I am also a slave, like you to Shiva,
Annamalai. Do not forsake me. While Annamalai is the support
for the world and you are his wife and I am your son, is it not?

Bhagavan explained to Chadwick at length that England or India did not matter if one could control the mind.  One’s mind is the problem and that matters it would still have to be tackled even if one goes to England.  Bhagavan’s words brought tremendous consolation to Chadwick who abandoned forever the thought of return.  The poem is reproduced here:

Will you not let me go?
Like some insidious druggist you would make
Me come with craven pleading to your door,
And beg you of your mercy let me take
From out your potent wares a little more
And so,
You will not le me go.

Will you not let me go?
Here, in an alien land I pass my hours,
Far from my country and all formers ties,
A restless longing slowly me devours
That me all worldly happiness denies
And so,
Will you not le me go?

Will you not let me go?
You tell me “Yes, I do not keep you here”
That’s but your fun.  Why else then should I stay?
While months pass by and mount up year by year,
So that it seems I’ll never go away
And so,
You do not let me go.

Will you not let me go?
Nay, I’am a fool.  I cannot if I would.
I am your slave, do with me what you will.
That you should all deny, well, that is good
If so it pleases you.  I’ll speak no ill.

Refuse to let me go!

You’ve striven long to mould me into shape.

Guhai Namasivayar

I will no longer bear this delusive body, which is the dwelling place of all the 360 diseases known to our science. Lord Arunesan, who wears in his locks the holy waters and the waning moon! May you wipe out at once this birth for the sake of your solitary devotee… We have found refuge at the feet of our father, Lord Sonagiri. We have crossed the threefold waters of our final birth. Behold! No longer do we bow down to the lotus-born Brahma, the creator, nor to Yama [the god of death] who rides the powerful buffalo.

Dear Subramanian Sir

Thank you very much .  Though I have the book Ramana Sannidhi Murai, I do not know  at what situation Sri Muruganar  has written this song.  I read your comments .  Regarding Ramana Sannidhi Murai book, it was  an unexpected event in front of Sri Ramana Samadhi at Ramanashramam when I visited Ramanasramam during july 2011 .  100s of people started reading one song from this book. I cannot understand  I just silently stood like others.  I asked one gentle man , where you brought this book? while he was singing without seeing his book  he immediately gave his book to me.  I know his visage. I noted somewhere  your lines in this forum in english but i cannot  trace the message. My bakthi towards Sri Ramana  have been increasing day by day. I chant Arunachala Shiva always  at my work  in France.  Regarding Self inquiry I am very slow.

I typed this passage at this site in english words with same tamil pronounciation  it will give in tamil words.  Every few minutes I copy at my email for saving purpose. May  Guru Ramana's Grace showers on you Subramanian sir.

Pl go to Skandasramam, Virupaksa guhai and Guhai Namasivaya guhai.  You can to to these places from Ramanasramam back side.  The way to Skandasramam from Ramanasramam is very nice and gives peace of mind.  On the way you can see the entire structure of Arunachala temple. You can sit in a rock for  a few minutes seeing the Arunachala temple from the Hill. pl start at 7.30 in the morning to these places from Ramanasramam.

I was married to Lalitha who was born and brought up in the
Ashram. My marriage was fixed in Bhagavan’s own presence. My
wife had a close acquaintance with him even from her childhood.
She realised that he was a sannyasi like others but also her relative so
to speak.

Our first child was unable to walk until the age of two. When we
brought the child to the Ashram, Bhagavan stroked the child’s legs
and on the third day she walked and on the fourth day, she started
running. The child came and told Bhagavan that he spoke well. In
return, Bhagavan lovingly gave her some sugar candy and a blessing.
In the old meditation hall Bhagavan would feed the monkeys and
squirrels with peanuts. Even though there were people crowding the
dhyana hall, animals would fearlessly come into the room.
Somebody had presented a strong bull in the gosala. It was strong
and violent. It would break its chains, rampage and charge those who
were near it. Hearing this, Bhagavan rose from his seat, went to the
bull and asked him to calm down. Due to Bhagavan’s sweet pleadings
the bull stopped, strolled away and didn’t attack anyone after that.
Bhagavan’s very look made the bull tranquil.

Sadhu Om:  Once a PWD inspector asked Bhagawan, ‘  How can we live a pure life in this world? And he replied’ you know the 'nattan-kal ‘ (a standing stone fixed at a road junction).  We have in our villages (in the Madurai district) See how many uses it has:  Villagers place their head loads on it.  When they take rest , comes use it as a resting point.  Cows use it as a scratching post, betel chewers wipe thier surplus chunnambu (lime paste) on it and others spit  on it.  We must live in this world  like those nattan-kal’.
