Am unfortunate incident happened yesterday in Thiruvanamalai when 4 people died while taking holy bath in the Ayyankulam Tank and one of them happened to be Prof.Manikandan , an Ashram Priest , Volunteer and a great Devi Upasaka and the following is a piece from Ramana Ashram FB Post .

Mahodaya Punyakala Ayyankulam pond dipping event turned tragic claiming at least four lives. Ashram reports with great sadness the loss of the life of one of its most valuable priest-volunteers Prof. Manikandan of SKP Engineering college, Tiruvannamalai. The attached Navaratri decorations and Sri Vidya havan worship speak for themselves for the greatness of this great Devi Upasaka.
Between 6:30 AM and 6:40 AM there was some commotion as devotees were standing on the steps of the Ayyankulam tank. Some twenty people slipped and fell in the Pond. Many of them were rescued but some were caught in the sludge below the water and lost their lives. We pray to Sri Ramana Maharshi to grant peace to his relatives and friends in this difficult time.

Aksharamana malai verse 2
May Thou and I be one and inseparable like Alagu and Sundara, O Arunachala!

Only Kanchi Pramacharya can spot the finer details in anything be it a poem , an idol , a place etc and this incident is another testimony of the same .

Great men are not those who run fast and speak much but think deep and live wisely. More than doing it is being something - a change of outlook and attitude. We are great, not because we are something to the world but because we are something in ourselves, even if the whole world is not to exist at all.- Swami Krishnananda

It often occurs to me that two divine children demonstrated their purpose of descent to the earth through their very upanayana samskara. One of the two is Sri Adi Sankara who revived the Vedic religion and the other is Sri Thiru Gnanasambhandhar. The Tamil Periyapuranam mentions that Thiru Gnanasambhandhar?s upanayana was performed when he was a small child. They accomplished their respective missions only after their upanayana had been performed and after receiving Gayathri upadesam. This strongly emphasizes the importance of upanayana samskara to ordinary people like us. ? Pujya Sri Kanchi Maha Periyava

Likewise ,in every small detail all the wishes of Dhruvan were met by Bhagavan, but only after some preliminary 'Drama'!

Dear Sri Ravi

What you say is true . Every visit to any spiritual place has its own dramas and surprises and while we plan it in a structured way , events happen in an unstructured way but the end is sweet if we do not get trapped in our ego and start blaming or complaining .

A DEVOTEE: "What is that story about 'the will of Rama'?"

In a certain village there lived a weaver. He was a very pious soul. Everyone trusted him and loved him. He used to sell his goods in the market-place. When a customer asked him the price of a piece of cloth, the weaver would say: 'By the will of Rama the price of the yarn is one rupee and the labour four annas; by the will of Rama the profit is two annas. The price of the cloth, by the will of Rama, is one rupee and six annas.' Such was the people's faith in the weaver that the customer would at once pay the price and take the cloth. The weaver was a real devotee of God. After finishing his supper in the evening, he would spend long hours in the worship hall meditating on God and chanting His name and glories. Now, late one night the weaver couldn't get to sleep. He was sitting in the worship hall, smoking now and then, when a band of robbers happened to pass that way. They wanted a man to carry their goods and said to the weaver, 'Come with us.' So saying, they led him off by the hand. After committing a robbery in a house, they put a load of things on the weaver's head, commanding him to carry them. Suddenly the police arrived and the robbers ran away. But the weaver, with his load, was arrested. He was kept in the lock-up for the night. Next day he was brought before the magistrate for trial. The villagers learnt what had happened and came to court. They said to the magistrate, 'Your Honour, this man could never commit a robbery.' Thereupon the magistrate asked the weaver to make his statement.

"The weaver said: 'Your Honour, by the will of Rama I finished my meal at night. Then by the will of Rama I was sitting in the worship hall. It was quite late at night by the will of Rama. By the will of Rama I had been thinking of God and chanting His name and glories, when by the will of Rama a band of robbers passed that way. By the will of Rama they dragged me with them; by the will of Rama they committed a robbery in a house; and by the will of Rama they put a load on my head. Just then, by the will of Rama the police arrived, and by the will of Rama I was arrested. Then by the will of Rama the police kept me in the lock-up for the night, and this morning by the will of Rama I have been brought before Your Honour.' The magistrate realized that the weaver was a pious man and ordered his release. On his way home the weaver said to his friends, 'By the will of Rama I have been released.'

Dear Anil

Happy to note that you were able to visit Sri RamanaAshram this time and had a spiritually refreshing time there for few hours and was also was blessed to have Lunch Prasad there being personally served by Dr.Srinivasa Murthy . Many people get upset when they are refused accommdation at Sri RamaAshram and do not visit there . While stay at the Ashram is no doubt a blissful experince , the next best is to stay outside and spend maximun time at the Ashram  in the Old Hall , Samadhi Hall , Mother's shrine etc and absorb the divine presence of Bhagavan .Glad that you took the initiative to travel from Bangalore and spend few valuable hours there and the lunch Prasad was in fact a blessing from Bhagavn itself .
All the best in your sadhana .

Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Ramanaya .

The concentration on ?I am? is a form of attention. Give your undivided attention to the most important thing in your life ? yourself. Of your personal universe you are the center ? without knowing the center what else can you know?

My advice to you is very simple ? just remember yourself, ?I am?, it is enough to heal your mind and take you beyond, just have some trust. I don?t mislead you. Why should I? Do I want anything from you? I wish you well ? such is my nature. Why should I mislead you?

Commonsense too will tell you that to fulfill a desire you must keep your mind on it. If you want to know your true nature, you must have yourself in mind all the time, until the secret of your being stands revealed.
