What is the legend behind this name?
Devi is mother to Ganesha & Skanda, so why call her one whose breast have never been suckled?

Thank you for the link.
I was aware of this site, but it is run by Westerners and I want to learn about Devi from Shakta disciples from India.

I found a map of the girivalam path here, with all the Lingas.
Where does the path start, which Lingam comes first?

"Sri Ramana Mahrshi: Individuals have to suffer their Karmas but Iswara manages to make the best of their Karmas for his purpose. God manipulates the fruits of Karma but he does not add or take away from it. The subconscious of man is a warehouse of good and bad Karma. Iswara chooses from this warehouse what he sees will best suit the spiritual evolution at the time of each man, whether pleasant or painful." found here

When I read the news, I cannot help but thinking that Ishvara somethimes gives people too much to handle.
How can beeing tortured & raped suit the spiritual evolution of a child?
And there are many cases were children have to suffer such terrible things, just loock on web, it is unbelievable.  :'(

Is yes, I would be grateful for the link.

Under what conditions can animals attain rebirth as humans?
Is that like evolution: after aeons of birth in animal form they attain birth in human form?

Do animals and plants have souls?
Can animals be reborn as humans?
I ask because animals (and I think plants too) can suffer, but what can they do to reach moksha?

But Arunachala is also a refuge for people who practise Sadhana in solitute.
It is said that many saints lived in Arunachala's caves.
So what then about women seekers who want to practise in solitude?

I wonder when Arunachala is God - why does he allow such things to happen to women who walk around him?
There is the story how one man suffering from leprosy walked around Arunachala when suddely another man appeared and beat him with some neem tree branches, demanging the he left as he has no buisness here.
When the leper run away, he suddely realized that his sickness had gone.
So why does not, when a man tries to rape a woman on Arunachala path, Shiva come forward in his form as Bhairava and frighten them to different behaviour?

Arunachala / What would happen if Arunachala were destroyed?
« on: June 02, 2011, 09:10:07 AM »
In our times large parts of nature are destroyed.
What would happen if anytime in the future some crazy government decides to sell Arunachala mountain to a company that removes the mountain and uses the material gained to build something?
In China the government built a monstrous dam that destroyed three gorges, so we can see what human are capable of doing in the hope to gain monay.

Dear Jyoti,

The 5th peak is Nandi the bull or Chandikeswara, the Siva Jnani who
is also the guardian angel of Siva temples. When you go to a Siva temple, you come during pradakshina to Siva's right on the outer portal where some Jnani is in Sivadhayana.  You go and clap your hands gently. You are telling him that you are leaving the temple and you are not taking any of the properties of Siva. You should clap your hands gently for 4 times, lest his dhyana is not disturbed. You should not clap your hands vigorously as if he is deaf. No.

Arunachala Siva.
So when there are 5 peaks and 5 devatas, who stands for what?
Shiva should be Being and Devi energy, what about the others?

Good answer.  :D
I have an interest in Tantra because I like the unconventional aproach.
At the same time I like Devi more than Shiva, which is why I am never quite sure if I should worship Arunachala.

What if one walks around Arunachala anti-clockwise?
I think Tantriks do it that way, is it harmful?
