My mind for ever contemplates His feet;
Her fawn-like looks have my senses unhinged;
Which way did she -- my Father's grace --, go?"

Verse 297:

அவ்வாறு பணிந்தேத்தி
   யணியாரூர் மணிப்புற்றின்
மைவாழுந் திருமிடற்று
   வானவர்பால் நின்றும்போந்து
எவ்வாறு சென்றாள்என்
   இன்னுயிராம் அன்னமெனச்
செவ்வாய்வெண் நகைக்கொடியைத்
   தேடுவா ராயினார்.

Having thus prayed before Him, Aroorar
Returned from the shrine of the blue-throated Lord
That abides at the Ant-Hill.
"O whither did she go
The swan, dear as my life?"
He wondered and commenced his quest
After the liana-like damsel
Of ruddy lips and bright and white teeth.

Verse 296:

பரவையார் வலங்கொண்டு
   பணிந்தேத்தி முன்னரே
புரவலனார் கோயிலினின்
   றொருமருங்கு புறப்பட்டார்
விரவுபெருங் காதலினால்
   மெல்லியலார் தமைவேண்டி
அரவின்ஆ ரம்புனைந்தார்
   அடிபணிந்தார் ஆரூரர்.

Even before he entered the temple, Paravaiyar
As was her wont, had completed her sacred round;
She hailed and adored the Lord, and departed
Through a different way; he bowed at the feet
Of Him who wears snakes for garlands;
Driven by love, great and compelling, he prayed
Unto the Lord to gift her to him.

Thus he thought of her in manifold ways;
Bound in love with her by hoary Providence
And by the grace of the Lord, he mused thus:
"I'll anon go to my Lord who rules me
As His good servitor." With a joyous heart, Nambi
Hied and entered the temple of the God of gods.

"Ha, her name is Paravai! If her womanliness
Be contemplated, even celestial danseuses
Coveted by the immortals, should hail her
As their deity; her rows of teeth -- mullai-buds --,
Excel even the pearls of her nose-ring;
Her beauty is such as is even to be praised by Lakshmi;
My love for her, caught and tossed and drawn
By her soft mien and divine bearing
Is immense as the seven ocean-streams."

Though by reason of her measureless love for the noble one
Her inly virtues four were a trifle unhinged,
They yet infused her of perfumed locks,
With strength, and prodded her to move on steadfast
Holding firm to the love adoration
For the Lord who has an eye in His forehead.

Man's desire for wealth is limitless.  Saint Tayumanavar says:  "Even if one is given to rule the
entire land, he would desire to conquer the oceans!"  Once a devotee prayed to Siva intently for
wealth.  Siva appeared before him and asked: What do you want?"  He answered.
Then Siva pointed his index finger towards the house.  The whole house turned into a golden palace!
The Siva entered his house.  What more do you want?"  The devotee grinned and showed the
wooden cupboards, steel cupboards, stainless steel vessels, etc.,  Siva waved his index finger towards
these objects.  All turned into gold.  The devotee was still grinning at him with expecting something
more.  Siva was amused, and he asked him:  "Anything else?"  He said unashamedly:  "I want your
index finger!"

Siva already lost half his body to Uma.  If someone asked him the index finger... What is the end?
He disappeared!

Most of us are used to image worship, because it is ingrained in our blood due to the religion
that we adopt.  Bhagavan Ramana never criticized image worship.  He only said that one has
to go past the names and forms.

The Lap of Love

(Anna Ramana)

*

Let me, O God, be most intimate with my own heart.
Relieve me of the crust congealed in crevices.
Lure me into the lap of love
Where you and I abide as One.
And always have.

Why do I resist?
Who is it hides from her real home?
What dream of me keeps me from your truth?
Don't let me stray like a wild dog,
Gnawing on the bone of illusion.

My one wish is for you ---
To fall into your arms, O my Beloved,
To rest in the quiet of your charms.
What is this dream of life but a chance to die
Into the light of your Pure Being?

Let me live as That, while breath still courses through.

I lay my head at your lotus feet,
O Holy Master.
One gaze from you and I am free.
I close my eyes now
That I may truly see.

The following poem appeared in Mountain Path, Jan. - March 2016.  This is by Upahar:

*

Notes to Self:

Inestimable form of things;
 time, and the whirling stars;
these dancing, dying bodies; children of earth,
 our clamor and cry;
river of thought in the shadowland of dream  ---
 Love, none of this can veil you.

Invisible the root of this appearing,
 unthinkable the flower;
within, without; belonging still to no one,
  and yet most gladly, marvelously here.

Knowing, unknowing; the empty heart mysteriously
  abounding;a moon through clouds, a blossoming --
Love, all of this reveals You.

The above article giving some excerpts of the book Guru Ramana Prasadam, is available in
Mountain Path, April -June 2007)

5.  Through the joyous power of the true love, that took as its goal the feet of my Guru, a life
lived in the vast space of the Self that shines fearlessly within the heart burgeoned forth within me,
as the unfailing awareness that it is divine silence became ever more intense.  Birth's suffering was
abolished, and my eye became fearless, as I obtained the vision of Grace.

7. His true glance, the pellucid knowledge dispensed by the Guru's Grace, is the medicine to cure
the disease that is the illusion of worldly bondage, inflicted upon us by the vagaries of the objective ego
mind whose nature is to look at that which is alien to itself. How strange it is that we wander in this world
illusion,instead of availing ourselves of that glance to go and win salvation at the feet of the true Lord
who shines within the heart.

205. Destroying the dark void of base ignorance, the light of the grace-bestowing feet of my Guru
and Master, whose nature is of the form of shining self knowledge, revealed to me my true self,
driving out entirely the degrading confusion of that false, delusional state,in which I wandered weeping
and fretting over 'I' and 'mine'.

334. Reality, the Supreme and unique nature of the Self, is nothing other than the Heart in which the
power of the mind to generate its false creations has died.If the aggressive ego is eliminated as its
source, a joy will arise that the sorrows of the mind cannot touch.
