    உள்ளம் உருகும் பெருங்காதல்
உடையார் உடையாய் நின்பாதஞ்
    சேரக் கண்டிங் கூர்நாயிற்
கடையா னேன்நெஞ் சுருகாதேன்
    கல்லா மனத்தேன் கசியாதேன்
முடையார் புழுக்கூ டிதுகாத்திங்
    கிருப்ப தாக முடித்தாயே.

O Lord-Owner,
Your own devotees who foster for You Great love and whose hearts melt thinking on You,
Have gained Your feet.
Having witnessed this,
I,
Who am worse than a stray mongrel of the village,
Abide here;
my heart melts not;
my mind does not cultivate you;
I do not ooze out with love for You.
Fostering this worm-ridden and stinking body I remain here;
alas,
You have so ordained my lot.

55: மின் ஆயிரம் ஒரு மெய் வடிவு ஆகி விளங்குகின்றது
அன்னாள், அகம் மகிழ் ஆனந்தவல்லி, அருமறைக்கு
முன்னாய், நடு எங்கும் ஆய், முடிவு ஆய முதல்விதன்னை
உன்னாது ஒழியினும், உன்னினும், வேண்டுவது ஒன்று இல்லையே.

அபிராமி! நீ ஆயிரம் மின்னல்கள் சேர்ந்தாற் போன்ற வடிவுடையவள்! தன்னுடைய அடியவர்களுக்கு அகமகிழ்ச்சி தரக்கூடிய ஆனந்த வல்லி! அருமையான வேதத்திற்கு தொடக்கமாகவும் நடுவாகவும், முடிவாகவும் விளங்கும் முதற் பொருளானவள்! உன்னை மானிடர் நினையாது விட்டாலும், நினைத்திருந்தாலும், அதனால் உனக்கு ஆகக்கூடிய பொருள் ஒன்றும் இல்லையே!

Abhirami!  You are beautiful like a thousand lightnings.  You are the creeper of Ananda for devotees.
You are the beginning, middle and end of the great Vedas.  You are the Primordial Subject.
Whether the humans think of You or not, there is no benefit for You!

8. You are rooted in joy, ever and anon.
You are devoid of hatred ever and anon.
You are without activity etc., ever and anon.
You are Brahman; you are completeness;
You are supreme and ordinary.

9.  You are of the nature of consciousness.  You are awareness alone.  You are the sovereign one.
You dwell as the self alone.  No doubt, you are Brahman.

10.  You are bliss; you are transcendental;  you are void everything and attribute-less. You are only one
and second-less. Without doubt you are Brahman.     

11.  You are of the form of a dense mass of consciousness-bliss.  You are ever of the bliss of consciousness.
Your nature is of absolute perfection. No doubt, you are Brahman.

12.  You are 'That'. You Are!  You are enlightened. You are 'He'.  You know.  You see.  You are consciousness.
You are Brahman-being.  You are Brahman without doubt.

13. You are immortal. You are omnipresent. You are the Lord.  You are supreme.  You are that which is
tainted by speech by way of explanation.  You are Brahman, without doubt.

342: It is in the seer of the world, called the Jiva, that the truth of the world lies, because, when he
arises, the world also appears, and when he goes into latency, the world also does the same.

343: Therefore the Sage, knowing the truth of the ego by the Direct Experience of the Real Self,
becomes aware of the truth of the world.  The rest, being overwhelmed by the belief that the body
is the Self, entertain a false view of the world.

344: The soul is the primary form of the Ignorance; it is the sprout which grows into the poison tree
of the worldly life.  All this world is only its expanded form.  The State of Deliverance is just its final
extinction.

345:  The Guru Sugata (Buddha) taught this truth; also the great teacher Sankara taught the same;
our own Guru also tells us the same; and this is also the essence of the Vedantas.

346:  The soul, who is the seer of the world, is never known apart from his spectacle, the world.
There is no soul in the state of deep sleep.  Hence like his spectacle (the world), he is only a mental
creation. 

347:  The soul is always known only along with the body.  Even when the body dies, he does not
leave it without taking hold of another body.

348:  Since thus the soul is not separate from the body, he is only part and parcel of the world.
But unenlightened men who are disciples of unenlightened gurus, ascribe immortality to this same
(mythical) person.

349. Assuming, without inquiry, that this soul is the owner of the body and the real Self, they
ascribe to that Self qualities of the worldliness and all else which pertain only to this soul.

350: From this error arise various creeds concerning the Real Self, who transcends all the creeds.
Believing Him to be bound, they follow various paths of Yoga to free Him from bondage.

விண்பு லப்பட வீங்கிருள் நீங்கலும்.



The Chief of Sanbai narrated the true beatitude
Of his dream to his noble father and the devotees
Who were seated close by; even before he could
Hail the grace of the Lord, the thick murk
That had mantled the earth, scattered away
Revealing the lucid heavens.

The Lord patron of Aratthurai which is
Girt with miry and watery fields, graced
The divine child in a dream thus:
"It will befit you to receive what
We grant you in grace and joy."
Thus blessed, the divine child woke up

உய்த்த ளிக்கும் படிமுன் உணர்த்துவார்.


Thus they proceeded from Nelvaayil;
(There in Maaran Paadi), during the pridian night,
The Lord was pleased to inform the Lord of Sanbai
That a litter inlaid with the purest of pearls
And other gifts would be granted to him.

By the nectarean grace of the Lord,
The flawless and truthful Brahmins

Divine gifts to the presence of the flawless

Witnessing them they folded their hands
Above their heads and said: "These are verily
The lamps for all the eight cardinal points."
The servitors and the Brahmins circumambulated them,
Prostrated before them, rose up, and in joy raised
A foudroyant shout that pierced the celestial world.

A great white umbrella decked with pearls
Like unto the moist moon,

Very great indeed was the marvel they felt;
It was time for the early morning service;
So the devotees ever-poised in love and piety,

Cow Lakshmi's Day:


The cow donated to the Asramam in 1926 was named Lakshmi by Sri Ramana Himself.  She died in 1948.
She had nine deliveries in all, four of which were on the Jayanti days of Sri Ramana.  At the time of one such
delivery, Sri Ramana's attendant Kunju Swami remarked:  It is auspicious that the cow has delivered the calf
on Sri Ramana's birthday.

Sri Ramana interrupted him to say, 'Correct yourself Kunju, my birth day celebrations are taking place
on the day Lakshmi has calved.

Sri Ramana would visit the cow shed regularly.  Lakshmi also became greatly attached to the Maharshi
and would, on her own accord, walk from her shed, put her head on the Maharshi's shoulder and wept.
He gently stroked her head and said, 'Who has hurt you?  Stop crying .  I am here to befriend you.'
Lakshmi stopped crying, gave the Maharshi a few licks and went away comforted.

Lakshmi would walk into the Hall from her shed a few minutes after the birth of a new calf and stand
mutely before the Maharshi, who would then address her:  'Lakshmi you have come to tell me that you
have a new baby. I will come to the shed and see your child.'

Lakshmi continued through the years as one of the favorite devotees of Sri Ramana.  Whenever she
visited Sri Ramana, He would pay attention to her, stroke her and feed her with plantains, rice cakes,
etc., The possessive way in which she approached Sri Ramana and the attention bestowed on her made
many devotees believe that there was some special bond between them in an earlier birth.  It seemed
hard to explain in any other way the great solicitude and tenderness that Sri Ramana always showed
in His dealings with her.

Many old timers at the Asramam believed that Lakshmi was reincarnation of an old lady by the name
Keeraipatti, who had known Sri Ramana from His earliest days in Tiruvannamalai and had occasionally
prepared food for Him almost up to her death in 1921. Sri Ramana has also referred to the fact of
reincarnation without committing Himself.

It is believed that Lakshmi brought a lot of luck and prosperity to the Asramam, a fact that was mentioned
by Sri Ramana Himself.

On the day of Lakshmi's death the Maharshi sat beside her, took her head into His arms and gently stroked
her neck.  He fixed His gracious gaze on her. She passed away peacefully and was given a ceremonial burial
in the Asramam premises.  A Samadhi shrine built over the grave with her true life statue (though of a smaller
size) is worshipped by the devotees to this day.  An epitaph written by the Maharshi in Tamizh verse
confirms her nirvana.
