My first darshan of Sri Bhagavan was in May 1942, when I was twenty six years old.  Though I had been
to Chidambaram several times as a student pursuing my Bachelor of Science, I had not the opportunity
to see Bhagavan in spite of my desire after I knew of the Sage in 1935.

It was only after my marriage with Rukmani, daughter of Gridhalur Satya Narayana Rao, the brother of
Sambasiva Rao from Nellore, who were great devotees of Bhagavan, that my association with Him began.
It was also I feel, by the blessings of Bhagavan that our alliance was finalized as we had no horoscope  for
me and Rukmani's family were also strong believers in astrology.

The quite arresting very first darshan of Bhagavan clearly distinguished Him from all other saints and
sadhus I had seen before.  He seemed to live apart from the physical form and was quite detached from it.
His look had a remarkable spiritual charm that absorbed the attention of all with magnetic force.  When
He spoke, the words seemed to come out of an abyss. One could see immaculate purity and non attachment.
His movements were very refined, lofty and sacred.  In His vicinity one's mental distractions were over powered by a pervasive austere and potent calmness.

The unique bliss of His was directly experienced by all, that is, there was a blissful  atmosphere around
Bhagavan.  In the ecstasy of Grace one loses one's separate individuality and there remains  something
holy and all pervading which devoured one's personality!  This indeed is the Spirit of Arunachala which
swallows up the whole Universe by its gracious effulgence.

Today is the liberation day of Somachi Mara Nayanar.  He attained the feet of the Lord by doing
Soma Yagam, (with Sama Veda) for a number of days, with ardent bhakti towards Siva.
In course of time, he attained mukti by attaining the feet of the Lord Siva.

I have given the detailed account of Somachi Mara Nayanar in my posts on 63 Saiva Saints.
The Forum members are requested to go through the same.

Day of Liberation; Valkasi Ayilyam star day.

I do not know The way to attain You,

Verse 48.

O Abhirami!  You are the green tender plant.  You are the joined  with Siva who is wearing a crescent
moon on His hill like matted hairs. The Jnanis and Yogis who do continuous and hard  tapas,
contemplating on You, will not be born again. Because they do not like to take birth with a human body
full of flesh, blood, skin again in this world.

11.  The most confidential of all secrets was abridged and granted by Siva.  That which is spoken as
Self is non self only;  the mind (which speaks thus) is non self also.  The world too is non self.
Be certain that there is no non self.

12.  Be of the certitude of the absence of non self by rendering naught all forms of thought, by forsaking
all forms and by the conviction that Brahman alone is.

13.  By the non cognition of the mind, there is nothing to be thought of;  by the non cognition of the
body aging is not.  With the knowledge that Brahman alone is, be of the certitude that there is no
non self.I motion and by that of hands action there is none.  With the knowledge that Brahman alone
is real, n be of the certitude that there is non non self.

15.  In the absence of Brahma there is no world;  by the absence of that world there is no Hari.
As Brahman alone is real, be of the certitude that there is no non self.

16. Death is void in the absence of aging; worldly and Vedic matters are naught.  As there is
Brahman alone, be of the certitude that there is non non self.

17. Dharma (righteousness), purity, truth and fear are non existent.  As Brahman alone is, non
self is non existent.

18.  There is no pronunciation of syllables.  My consciousness is imperishable.  As Brahman alone is,
non self is non existent.

Arunachala Siva.

290.  Therein the Self shines by His own Light of Consciousness, as the Sole Reality, which is Bliss.
In that Supreme State there is no reality to shed light on Him, nor anything other that could shine
by His Light.

291. That consciousness-light, which is His Nature, neither rises nor sets, but is ever the same without
change.  It is by borrowing a minute particle of His Consciousness that the mind appears conscious.

292.  Disciples of non sages, fearing that in the Supreme State the Self will cease to be, wish to go
to some other celestial world, for the sake of eternal happiness.

293. As this world is unreal, so the other worlds also are unreal.  For the Sage who is in the Supreme
State, the Self is Himself the world, and hence that World is real in its own right.

294.  'What for do we need wealth or offspring when the Self is Himself the world?'  So thinking,
the sages, whose desires have all subsided, care not for action, nor for inaction.

295.  That Self, who is Consciousness, is alone real; the consciousness which has the world form is
ignorance (not true knowledge);  and since the world does not exist apart from that world-form-
consciousness, it is unreal.

296.  This Ignorance is like darkness; it cannot be said that it exists.  As darkness does not bear the
light so the Ignorance does not bear the Light of Right Awareness.

When the great Paanar completed
The melodious playing of the Yaazh and singing,
Thus musically hailing the feet of the Lord
Enshrined in the Ark of boundless glory,
By the grace of the brow-eyed Lord
The Prince of Kaazhi took them to the abode
Arranged for their stay and feasted them
In great splendor.

With the music of the Yaazh, flowed fluent
The vocal rendering of the harmonious pair
Which in great glory wafted to the Lord of the Ark;
The two birds--Kinnara and Mituna--, stood poised
In mid-heaven; the masters of the seven-fold music--
Gandharvas and Vidyataras--, showered encomia.

He quickened the frets, plucked in perfect accord
The strings and studied close the rose and fall
Of the music; in measured movement when he played
And his wife sang harmoniously, a divine hymn
On the merciful one, he that was on wisdom fed,
Rejoiced and the Brahmins of the four Vedas marveled.

They bowed before the divine child

The strings of the Yaazh and she melodize.

With a smile bright as the moon's rays, he said:

Rejoicing in your heart."
He took them with him to the shrine of the Lord
Whose throat holds the deadly venom.

மெய்வகை ஞானம் உண்ட

And there worshipped the golden feet of Siva;
Hymns he sang that would help redeem them
That dwelt on earth; thus he lived
Praising Siva, and praised by all.
