Verse 655:

Folding his hands above his head in adoration
He hastened towards them; the longing of his heart
Marched swift ahead of him and beheld the sea
Of devotees that accompanied the divine son of the Lord
Whose throat is adorned with poison.
So when he, the chief-minister of the Pandya King
Came before them with all propriety,
He fell prostrate on the ground in worship.

As thus the lord of Sanbai and his retinue came
Panoplied in such glory, the sound raised

Of ineffable glory; even as he heard it,
He fell prostrate on the ground in adoration
And felt immeasurably happy.

Tuskers held in leash by ropes fastened round
Their necks, and for the splendorous flourishing
Of the Saivite way, the pearly trumpets that would
Hail his multitudinous and glorious names,
Blared thus: "Behold, he comes, the Parasamayakolari!"*

பானல்வயல் தமிழ்நாடு
    பழிநாடும் படிபரந்த
மானமிலா அமண்என்னும்

கானபெரு கொளிப்பரப்பால்

ஞானமணி விளக்கெழுந்து

The Pandya realm girt with fields of blue lilies
Lay prostrate and flawed; to chase away thence
The murk that was the shameless Samanas,
Came there the peerless gemmy Lamp of wisdom?s own luster
That would, by its effulgence, great and vast, pervade
All the worlds, to confer ever-during well-being.

Bhagavan Ramana's kindness was proverbial.  His concern for
the downtrodden and ignorant was phenomenal.  His kindness
was directly proportional to the misery of the visitor.  Also,
his welcoming smile to an infant was warmer than that to a
learned scholar.

There were several occasions when people exceeded their
limits in their talk and 'discourses' with Bhagavan Ramana.
Such behavior was looked upon as a nuisance by those who
came to Him for meditation or self inquiry which was facilitated
by His presence and some of them did feel the results straightaway.

There was one Sanksrit scholar who came and was talking about
scriptures everyday, day in and day out.  Everyone got annoyed
but Bhagavan simply was listening to him.  After a few days,
the Pandit came to the Old Hall and simply kept silent!  No talks,
no Sanskrit scriptures, no lingual diarrohea!  Bhagavan Ramana
simply looked at the devotees and said:  Pandit has also become
like us!

On another occasion, a Pandit was speaking in Sanskrit.  Again,
torrents of speeches in the tongue of the gods that even gods
would begin to sulk. Jagadeeswara Sastri had to stand up and
shout:  "O dhushta, (mischievous fellow)  please stop all this nonsense!" Pandit then kept quiet.

Why did aberrations occur?  By the touch of Bhagavan's Sakti,
the mind of some visitors got churned and their latent tendencies,
vasanas, surfaced.  These were imbued with three gunas and
showed themselves as irreverent acts.

This is how a Guru acts due to abundant grace.

Nokkiye karuthi mei thakkiye pakkuvamm
Akki nee andu aruL arunachala!  (Verse 66 of Sri AAMM)

By seeing, considering or thinking, and then by touching
me, you cooked me with your grace, O Arunachala!

Thursday, December 31st, 2009:

I got up at 5 am., which was a little later than my usual hour.  There was sense that I had never slept.
I felt refreshed and there was no experiences of fatigue but somehow the distinction between sleep
and wakefulness no longer felt clear cut.

After breakfast I set out on my own to do giri pradakshina along the inner path.  When I reached the
flowing stream, I climbed down into the pool and bathed under the water fall.  Climbing out I walked
along the foot path while the weather was neither cold nor hot and I felt very comfortable walking in my wet
T-shirt and shorts with my canvas Ramanasramam shoulder bag.  Along the way there were several
other ponds and tanks and some of whom had some sannyasis bathing and washing their clothes.

I continued walking until I reached Parvati Mukham.  There I noticed a side trail bifurcating away from
the Inner Path and on impulse I followed it and within a short distance I was deeper into the forest at
the base of Parvati Mukham.  Hence there was a profusion of red colored and yellow colored stones.
I picked several stones that attracted my fancy.

விழைதரு வேனை விடுதிகண் டாய்விடின்

மழைதரு கண்டன் குணமிலி மானிடன்
    தேய்மதியன்
பழைதரு மாபரன் என்றென் றறைவன்
    பழிப்பினையே.

Like flies swarming over the drupels of jack-fruit my thoughts hover over
the buxom breasts of belles whose eyes are like the antelope`s.
Will You forsake me?
If You abandon me,
I will deride and say that You are The One whose throat is dark as You quaffed the oceanic venom,
the One who is virtue-less,
the One Who is a mere man,
the One who is of waning intellect and the great and hoary mendicant.
Thus and thus will I leer at You,
fleet at You and sneer at You.

I do not sing of Your praises,
O Ruby !
I do not adore You.
You have concealed Yourself from me;
for Your sake I have not cast away my body of raw flesh.
Will You forsake me?
Struck with wonder,
I do not cry aloud and go in quest of You.
I do not run about asking:
"Where indeed is Siva?
Who has beheld Him?"
I do not melt in love for You.
I but grieve in vain.

Verse  82:

O Abhirami!  You are living on a lotus where bees swarm. O the one with great beauty!  I am feeling
happy on seeing Your form which is shining as the light throughout the world.  Due to this happiness,
my anthakaranas flow and remain as the great light in the Sky which is all pervading.  How can I forget
Your great grace which I follow as the great tapas. I shall never forget Your grace!

Chapter 10:

1. Ribhu:

Listen to my words, Nidagha!  I shall describe tarpana - the daily water offering (libation).  This is very
difficult for humans to come by in the Vedas and Sastras.

2. The world does not exist, ever.  Something to be referred to as 'this' does not exist.  Brahman alone
is, being ever perfect.   This alone is tarpana to Brahman.

3.  I am Brahman with form.  Even Existence Consciousness Bliss am I.  I am a solid mass of Bliss -
such alone is tarpana to Brahman.

4. I am always the complete Void.  I am ever with the one with Bliss of the Self.  I am of the eternal
and fleeting forms.  This alone can be tarpana to Brahman.

5.  I alone am the expanse of consciousness.  I am ever the space of the Self.  I am satisfied within
myself.  This alone is tarpana to Brahman.

6.  I am devoid of the numeration such as one.  I am formless.  I am non dual.  I am of the form
that is eternally pure. This alone is tarpana to Brahman.

7.  Subtler than space am I. I am totally non existent.  I am of the form of the all-shining.  This alone
is tarpana to Brahman.

648. In conformity with the beliefs of the ignorant, two kinds of Deliverance are stated, one with the
body and another without the body.  Really no Free One is with the body;  All Deliverance is body-less.

649. The Power of the Prarabdha Karma extends only to the body;  it does not affect the Self.  Since
His body has been surrendered to the Prarabdha by the Sage, how can He be affected by the Karma?

650.  "The Sage, having given over His body to the Prarabdha Karma, remains in His Own State
without the sense of mine-ness in the body,"  thus the great Guru Sankara has shown the truth of
this in His 'Manisha Panchakam."

651.  If it be said that the subtle body of the Sage survives, (the answer is that) since the causal body
consisting of the Ignorance, has been extinguished, how can there be attachment of the Sage (the Self)
to the subtle body?

652.  Since the Brahman is unattached, so is the Sage also, in Samsara, like the Sky; and hence the
changes in the body and in the mind do not touch the Sage.

653. The Sage, who is wide awake in His Own Natural State, as the Self, is said to be like one soundly
asleep in a carriage.  The body is likened to a carriage, and ten sense organs are likened to the hroses
of the carriage.

By reason of the dense dirt that coated the bodies
Of the Samanas and the stain inherent in their
Consciousness, the Pandya realm lay immersed
In unrighteousness; it looked as though
The ever-bright and pure Ganga flowed amain
Into the Pandya country to wash the Samana stain away;
So beautiful was the coming of the godly child.

Getting routed, took to its heels; the glorious advent
Of the godly child, was like an invasion of great piety
Wrought not only by the earth but the heaven also.

With splendorous Tamizh, on all sides, wafted
And thus welcomed and adored him.

The Godly Child?s arrival.
Over the beauteous and grace-abounding palanquin
Of pearls, the white and bright and pearly parasol
Of ever-glowing rays, was held aloft;
It looked as though the moon accompanied him adoring;
Ever-growing throngs of servitors of the holy ash
Of ever-increasing luster, came encircling him.
Thus he came, the partaker of nectarean Gnosis
Towards Madurai, causing and diffusing grace.
