77. The period intervening a fresh creation and the dissolution of its previous one is known as Sandhya,
when Mahesvara, the great Lord, withdraws His creational effulgence.  Then all beings rest in Him in
abeyance with their innate tendencies remaining latent.  The Lord who is compassion embodied, designs
a new round of creation so as to enable the Jivas realize their latencies and also evolve spiritually.  Isvara
who is bound by no duty, takes this up for the sake of His children, the Jivas.

What to speak of duty, when He who has no name or form takes it upon Himself just for the upliftment
of His creation.

78.  Jiva receives bodies as determined by their Karma, undergo growth and changes, acquire the
unique privilege of creation called individuality which they consider existence and perish in the end.
Their hard earned personalities are thus rendered naught in a trice.  Whereas, Isvara, the Lord,
Exists, so to say, without the aid of a body.  Body or no body, HE IS!

With no adjuncts or qualities than Being Knowledge Bliss (Sat Chit Ananda), He inspires and elevates
the Jivas unto Himself, relative and chimerical knowledge (material sciences), and sensual and pain
generating bliss (objective enjoyment).  In this effort His patience defies description.

182:  This world, the outcome of the ignorance, of course conceals the Truth of That (Self);  and the
intellect, the senses and the mind are the servants of that ignorance.

183.  Hence it is that the worldly means of proof, namely direct perception, tradition and inference,
serve only to deceive the creature;  they do not at all sub-serve the attainment of Right Awareness.

184.  Hence where is the wonder that the Ignorant thinking the world to be real in its own right, also
become persuaded that the Real Self, the Ever Blissful one who has no wants, unrelated and alone,
is in bondage to worldliness.

185.  The unreality of the world, which has thus been expounded, is not easy to understand by the aid
of one single simile.  Hence to make this intelligible to the Sadhakas, the holy Guru gives three similes
in succession.

186.  When it is explained that the illusory appearance of the world is like that of the serpent in the rope,
a doubt occurs to the disciple,  because he thinks that the simile is not in all forms.

Once, the secretary of the Governor of Pondycherry came with his staff to have darshan of
Bhagavan Ramana.  He had brought a large paper with a lot of questions for clarification.
He submitted the paper to Bhagavan Ramana. The questions were in French and
were quite complicated.  Bhagavan Ramana asked me (Balarama Reddiar) to translate them
into English and tell Him.  I myself found it difficult to translate even though I know French.

Bhagavan Ramana, looked at me and understood my predicament. He then said:
"Alright, give me the substance, and that will do."

Then with hesitation, I told Bhagavan Ramana about the import of the questions and added
that the gentleman wants the answers not merely in words but also as EXPERIENTIAL.

Bhagavan after a second, gazed at the questioner.  About thirty seconds passed.

The gentleman started shivering and shaking and his eyes were shedding tears copiously.
He then said in a nervous tone: "Bhagavan!  Not now.  Not now."

Making the jackals into horses
You made all magic
And turned the entire Madurai,
of the King of South, go in frenzy.
O the Lord of Tiruperundurai!
O the Rare Substance, the remover of sins.
O the floods of Pandya country.
O the Effulgence, rare to witness!
I do not know what to do.

Himavan is the king of Himachala and his wife is Mena Devi. Their only darling daughter is Uma.
Once Brahma and Vishnu came to Himavan and told him to give his daughter in wedding
to Siva.  Siva came to see Uma and was happy and indicated his liking to marry Uma.  Himavan
became thoughtful.  This guy has not mother and father.  And his caste is not even known to us.
We do not know his gothra, lineage.  How can we give our daughter?  Mena Devi said:  It does not
matter.  If he has no mother and father, it is in a way good, for Uma will not suffer at the hands of
a mother in law or a sister in law!

The wedding took place in a grand manner.  Kubera came as the best-man for Siva.  Brahma and
Saraswati, and Vishnu and Lakshmi attended the wedding and gave the couple a lot of costly
gifts. Finally Siva took leave and left with Uma.  He said that they are going for honey-moon to
Tiruvannamalai.  "It is a very cool place here.  Annamalai is quite hot.  So, for a change, we propose
to go to Tiruvannamalai for honey-moon.

Himavan exclaimed:  "Oh!  To Annamalai?"

Siva said:  "Yes, to Annamalai.  I own that Hill."

Himavan became very happy.  O, our son-in-law is also the owner of a Hill.  Then, I should say that
he belongs to our caste! He and Mena Devi happily saw the couple off to Tiruvannamalai!

One girl to another:-

His temple is the cremation ground!
He wears the tiger skin as a nice apparel.
He has no mother, no father, He is all alone...
(What is the glory of your Siva?)

The other girl answers:

What if, He has no mother or father.
What if, He is all alone, a destitute.
You don't know His valor, if He gets angry,
All the worlds will burn to gravel and dust!
