Verse  53:

O Abhirami!  In Your slender waist You are wearing red silk sari!  You are wearing pearl garland over
the big beautiful breasts!  You are wearing the pichi flower,(a type of jasmine) where the honey bees are swarming, on Your dark long hairs!  You are having three beautiful eyes!  The devotees who pray to You, contemplating on the beauty have the best tapas in the world!

56:  I am with joy.  I am of the nature of the joyous. I am neither a boy nor a youth nor an old man.
I am beyond the beyond.

57:  I am not of the myriad forms.  I am Brahman alone.  The experience of my Self thus expressed
is the Supreme Essence of all the Upanishads.

58:  The rare one who hears this becomes Brahman oneself.

59:  He is neither gross nor atomic, nor is He of the nature of light, air, space, water or earth.
Enveloped by sheaths within all beings, He shines as the indweller, occupying the transcendental
space of the Heart.  Those with limited intellects, who are deluded by Maya into imagining themselves
to be phrases of wisdom and Sutras cannot realize Sankara even by hundreds of such scriptures.

(Chapter 4 concluded.)

328:  Thinking about the totality and the distinct units (individuals) are vain for the seekers of
Deliverance;  Only the inquiry as to source of him (the ego) who is interested in the toality and
the units will lead to Deliverance.

329: Vainly questions are posed by the deluded ones.  'By whom, and how, was the world created
in the beginning? ''What is Maya?"  "What is Ignorance?" "How did the individual soull come into being?"
due to forgetting the main thing needing to be inquired into.

330:  There is no creation apart from seeing;  seeing and creation are one and the same;  and because
that seeing is due to the Ignorance, to cease seeing is the truth of dissolution of the world.

331:  It is the Might of the Supreme Being, called Maya , which takes the form of sense perception
and thereby creates this varied world, and the deluded ones are persuaded that it is real.

332:  Inquiring into unrealities, taking them as real, leads to forgetting of the Real (Self).  And
there is no death other than this forgetting, because thereby the Self is almost lost to the seeker.

333:  If the aspirant knows the Self in this very life, then and only then, for him the Real is real.
If in this life he fails to know the Self, for him the Real (Self) remains concealed by the unreal.

334:  Therefore, the aspirant, being firmly convinced that space and time are unreal, should give
up the whole world and seek to know the Substratum, the Self, through the Quest of his own
True Nature.

ஆதி யார்தம் அரத்துறை நோக் கியே
காத லால்அணை வார்கடி தேகிடத்
தாதை யாரும் பரிவுறச் சம்பந்தர்
பாத தாமரை நொந்தன பைப்பய.

As he, in love, hastened towards
The Primordial One's Tiruvaratthurai
The lotus-feet of Sambandhar began
To pain gradually; his father too was pained.

தந்தை யார்பியல் மேலிருப் பார்தவிர்ந்

The divine child who at times, in the past,
Used to travel seated on the shoulders
Of his father, now avoided it;
In great love he walked ahead, closely
Followed by the Brahmins and his father.

"Tiruvaratthurai serthum."

He came to Pennaakatam and went round
The sacred shrine of Tirutthoongkaanai Maadam

And sang the celebrated musical garland
Of Tamizh hymns which commanded men thus:
"From evil be freed; adore Him."

He rose up and sang before the divine presence
The refreshingly cool decad of Tamizh, beginning
With the words: "Murasu atirntu ezhum"
He came out of the shrine; in that town
Of abundance, he sojourned; during these days
He composed divine garlands of hymns in which
The Mutthaaru of cool and clear water
That circled the shrine was also celebrated.

At the feet of the Lord, the Wearer
Of cool and honey-laden Konrai garlands.

From Sadhu Arunachala (Major Chadwick) writes, in Arunachala's
Ramana, Boundless Ocean of Grace, Volume 6, Sri Ramanasramam,
Tiruvannamalai:-

"Those who expect Bhagavan Ramana to hand them Self Realization,
as if it were some tangible thing, are surely sadly deluded.  How
can anybody give one what one has already got?  All He can do
is to help one to remove the ignorance that hides it.  It is like
going to lake with a cup and sitting by its side praying to it to
fill the cup with water.  You may sit there for a thousand years
but it is certain that unless you lean forward and dip the cup
into the water yourself, nothing will happen.  Even then you
have to make certain that the cup is not already full of a lot
of rubbish.  Most cups are!

"How then to obtain the perfect state?"  -- you may ask.  You
may as well ask, "How to empty the cup of rubbish?"

Bhagavan Ramana tells one other thing.  He says "BE".  Just
be your real Self, that is all.

"Certainly it sounds all right," you say "but when one tries to
do it, it does not seem easy.  Has He no method?"

Method!  Well what exactly do you mean by method?  Sitting
on the floor and concentrating on the navel?  Or blowing the
wind out of alternative nostrils?  Or repeating some incantation
one 10 million and 8 times?  No, He has not got any method.

All these are no doubt good in their way and help to prepare
one.  But Bhagavan does not happen to teach them.  That is all!

"Then what am I to do?"

"You must just BE," He says.  And to BE, you must know the
" I that is."  To know the "I that is", just go on enquiring,
"Who am I?"  Don't take any notice of anything except the "I",
throw everything else like the rubbish out of the cup.  And when you have at last found the "I" BE.

All talk.  All empty words.  "There is nothing to find.  Nothing
at all is except the "I".  Why worry about anything else?  Just BE, now and always, as you were, as you are, and as you ever will be.

It sounds so easy, doesn't it?  Bhagavan Ramana says that it is the easiest thing in the world.
Ayye adi sulabham, anma viddhai....I really don't know.

The fact is that all our hidden vices and evil tendencies  start to pop up their heads, which one never suspected were there at all.  But it is all for the good.   Bhagavan Ramana says that they all have to come out.  But let them come out, not take charge.  Don't give way to them. This practice is not really easy, as we all know.

(And that is where we all seek Bhagavan Ramana's abundant Grace, Karunaiyal ennai anda nee enakku un kakshi tharalilyai enral..... Sri Arunachala Padigam, Verse 1.  The Guru who has told us the Goal shall also show us the way out.)

Arunachala Siva.

6885

Over the ground level thoughts can be overcome by self
inquiry.  No doubt.  But there are numerous hidden thoughts/
tendencies, which are called Vasanas, they have to be brought
out and stamped out.  These are the worse enemies, attacking
us, without warning.  For this only, Guru's Grace is essential.
Mother Azhagamma was in death bed.  Bhagavan was holding
His hands on her head and chest.  Bhagavan Ramana says later:
"....So many thoughts came as mental  pictures to her swiftly for
some minutes.  Then they all got dissolved and the breath got
merged in the Heart...."

Arunachala Siva.
