Verse 214:

His decade began with the words: "Entai Eesan?"
The divine music of his decade bred by divine thinking
Filled his mind-heart, and he stood hymning
Before the divine gifts of the Lord, thus:
"The way of the Lord's grace is so, even so."

Arunachala Siva.

"The Lord blesses one with the beatitude
Of ever thinking on Him, should one
Hold fast to truth in steadfast love;
He has honored us with the gift
Of a pearly palanquin; to rule us as His servitor
Behold the boon here, He has blessed us with."

The Brahmins and the great tapaswis that came there,
Stood before the Prince of goodly Kaazhi
Girt with fragrant groves and gardens, and said:
"Be pleased to receive these which are
The incarnate grace of Aratthurai's Primordial Lord
Of infinite glory."

Then came the Brahmins with the true devotees

Riding his car over the black eastern main.

The night ended and when it dawned
The godly child did his matutinal hierurgy;
He wore on his beauteous person the bright
And white stripes of the holy ash; he folded
His flower-hands above his head and sat
In that posture chanting the Panchaakshara.

Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai has also written two long poems titled:

1. Sri Ramana Charita Ahaval -  647 lines -  Ahaval - Tamil blank verse.
2. Sri Ramana Anugraha Ahaval - 207 lines

Anugraha Ahaval has been rendered in English prose by David Godman.  The original Tamizh
version, I think, is not published by Sri Ramanasramam.  So also Charita Ahaval.

Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai has also made the following works, which are brief poems:

1. Vinnappam - Submission.  This gives the summary of Bhagavan
Ramana's teachings and also his inability to comply with them
fully.

A few excerpts from Vinnappam:  Tr. David Godman.

24. "Remain without thinking. If thoughts rise, without trying to
fulfill them, destroy them like enemies.  As soon as a thought
arises, question (yourself), "For whom is this thought?"  (The
answer), "For me" will appear.  Then, think "Who am I?".  By
thinking in this way, the thought that arose will die."

25. "I am Consciousness. What is my nature?" One must constantly think of this.
When conducting such an inquiry, the obstacles that rise should be defeated by the
above mentioned wonderful weapon, "Who am I?".  Then the restless mind will become
clear and liberation will be attained."  This is what you said.  It is a very difficult path.

27.  Instead of putting up with all difficulties as your will, instead of, destroying this troublesome
ego, that rises as "I" and remaining with the attitude, "Your will is my will", I am going in the direction
of my fire-like mind, growing the feeling "mine", paying greater attention to the body and becoming a
slave of the senses.  I spend my days like this.

28.  The limitless thoughts, rising in many ways, have the "I" thought as their origin.  You said:
"Unless all these thoughts subside, jnana will not arise."  Is it sufficient (merely), to have
given out these precious words?  Ramanadeva, the liberated one, is it not your duty to bless me
with mouna?

*

2. Sri Ramana Upadesam:

One or two samples:

6. What is the meaning of the statement, "Control the mind?"  It means that even when the
ego and the rest of the mental functions are born, without succumbing to any delusion, one
should destroy them all completely like destroying a great enemy.

9.  "Like the dog that eats human excreta, do not wander seeking women.  If you associate
with these, do not come and stand near me."  Sri Ramana said this (indirectly) to me.  O mind,
did you act according to the injunction?  You yourself think deeply over this.

*

3. Sri Ramana Vachana Saram:

This is simple 44 line poem telling about the repeated teachings of Bhagavan Ramana that one is not the body or the mind.

I am completing these posts on Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai, one of the greatest devotees of Bhagavan Ramana and whose liberation was confirmed by Bhagavan Himself in 1948.

Since Ramana's real nature is our own real nature Ramana darshan is only knowing myself,
(With His grace).

Our true Self is the universal Self or Purusha that exists within all nature.  The greater concern of Yoga
practice is uniting our unlimited consciousness with the unbounded infinite awareness that the Self of all.

The yogic view of the Self is very different than usual views that emphasize the bodily self, the psychological
self, or the religious soul as our true nature. Our ordinary view of the bodily self is of an entity that is born
and dies along with the body and is as separate from the world as our flesh is from the ground.  Our view
of the psychological self is of an entity created by our personal history during this physical life.  It has the
unique characteristics of our upbringing and education along with the particular capacities that we develop
through our own efforts, making us different than every other person.  Our usual religious view of the soul
is an entity created by God, dependent upon the body and its resurrection,which can perhaps commune
with God in some heavenly world but retains its separate identity and cannot become one with that
supreme Reality.

O Lord-Owner,
Your own devotees who foster for You Great love and whose hearts melt thinking on You,
Have gained Your feet.
Having witnessed this,
I,
Who am worse than a stray mongrel of the village,
Abide here;
my heart melts not;
my mind does not cultivate you;
I do not ooze out with love for You.
Fostering this worm-ridden and stinking body I remain here;
alas,
You have so ordained my lot.

Verse  55:

Abhirami!  You are beautiful like a thousand lightnings.  You are the creeper of Ananda for devotees.
You are the beginning, middle and end of the great Vedas.  You are the Primordial Subject.
Whether the humans think of You or not, there is no benefit for You!

8. You are rooted in joy, ever and anon.
You are devoid of hatred ever and anon.
You are without activity etc., ever and anon.
You are Brahman; you are completeness;
You are supreme and ordinary.

9.  You are of the nature of consciousness.  You are awareness alone.  You are the sovereign one.
You dwell as the self alone.  No doubt, you are Brahman.

10.  You are bliss; you are transcendental;  you are void everything and attribute-less. You are only one
and second-less. Without doubt you are Brahman.

11.  You are of the form of a dense mass of consciousness-bliss.  You are ever of the bliss of consciousness.
Your nature is of absolute perfection. No doubt, you are Brahman.

12.  You are 'That'. You Are!  You are enlightened. You are 'He'.  You know.  You see.  You are consciousness.
You are Brahman-being.  You are Brahman without doubt.

13. You are immortal. You are omnipresent. You are the Lord.  You are supreme.  You are that which is
tainted by speech by way of explanation.  You are Brahman, without doubt.

342: It is in the seer of the world, called the Jiva, that the truth of the world lies, because, when he
arises, the world also appears, and when he goes into latency, the world also does the same.

343: Therefore the Sage, knowing the truth of the ego by the Direct Experience of the Real Self,
becomes aware of the truth of the world.  The rest, being overwhelmed by the belief that the body
is the Self, entertain a false view of the world.

344: The soul is the primary form of the Ignorance; it is the sprout which grows into the poison tree
of the worldly life.  All this world is only its expanded form.  The State of Deliverance is just its final
extinction.

345:  The Guru Sugata (Buddha) taught this truth; also the great teacher Sankara taught the same;
our own Guru also tells us the same; and this is also the essence of the Vedantas.

346:  The soul, who is the seer of the world, is never known apart from his spectacle, the world.
There is no soul in the state of deep sleep.  Hence like his spectacle (the world), he is only a mental
creation.

347:  The soul is always known only along with the body.  Even when the body dies, he does not
leave it without taking hold of another body.

348:  Since thus the soul is not separate from the body, he is only part and parcel of the world.
But unenlightened men who are disciples of unenlightened gurus, ascribe immortality to this same
(mythical) person.

349. Assuming, without inquiry, that this soul is the owner of the body and the real Self, they
ascribe to that Self qualities of the worldliness and all else which pertain only to this soul.

350: From this error arise various creeds concerning the Real Self, who transcends all the creeds.
Believing Him to be bound, they follow various paths of Yoga to free Him from bondage.
