Verse 283:

Cinnam the unique Kaalam and Taarai
Were sounded to announce his advent thus:
"Lo and behold! The great one of Sirapuram is coming!"
Proclaiming his varied and holy names
The sacred instruments were sounded;
Before him and in the sides they beat the drums
And played many an instrument; divine servitors
That came to receive him, adored him.

Verse  282:

Of the residents of the hoary and opulent town
The true tapaswis went with him
While the Brahmins returned reluctantly;
He rode the pearly palanquin over which
Was held aloft the parasol, white and pearly.
Decked with rows of pearls in serried order,
It shone bright like the full moon.

To this the great one consented; he adored prostrating
At the feet of the Lord of long, matted hair
Enshrined in the auric and beauteous Ark
And blessed with His everlasting grace he moved out;
His father followed him; Yaazh-p-Paanar went
Along with him; adoring Kaazhi, beauteous to behold,
In love, he departed therefrom.

The father of the noble family who gave birth
To the godly child eyed him in great love,
And said, "I am your father by reason
Of my rare askesis, and cannot suffer your separation;

In this life here and hereafter, therefore will I
Be accompanied with you for a few days
With your leave."

All the decades of sweet music sung thus by him
Were played on the Yaazh by the great Paanar
And were also simultaneously sung
By Matangka Choolamani, an embodiment
Of harmonious and nectarean music;
They did so pursuing the seven-fold way of music;
He who was blessed with the holy cymbals
Wrought of gold, sang the decades, hailed the Lord
And abode at Pukali.

It was Chinnaswami's Liberation Day.  He merged with Bhagavan
in the year 1953.

The role of Chinnaswami or Sarvadhikari (means Manager) role is full of mixed aspects.  He was
authoritative, as his role demanded.  He had quarrel with many devotees of Bhagavan Ramana,
starting from Annamalai Swami, Ramanatha Brahmachari and to Suri Nagamma.  But his role as
an efficient administrator of the Asramam can never be under-estimated.

Any Brahma Jnani keeps himself aloof and does not take part in any administrative work.  It is not
his business to run ashrams, feed the devotees, and publish books. The person who takes that
role is the collaborator.  We have seen collaborators throughout the history of religion and philosophy.
We had Ananda for Buddha, we had St. John, who cried under the Cross and about whom Jesus
said to Mary:  "Please take care of him, as your son", were all collaborators. In recent times we
had Swami Vivekananda for Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Niranjananda for Bhagavan Ramana.

Chinnaswami joined Bhagavan, a few months after Mother Azhagamma's joining Her son.  By
that time, he had lost his wife, his only child (T.N. Venkataraman, later, Swami Ramana Padananda)
was left with his sister, a housewife (Alamelu - Athai Alamelu as devotees called her) and came
to Bhagavan Ramana.  Bhagavan knew the course of destiny beforehand and hence permitted him
to stay with him.  In due course, he became the Manager of the Asramam after say, 1924.

Bhagavan Ramana never interfered with his work.  He kept golden silence whenever the devotees
complained to Him.  But to some, He gave green signal to ahead with certain work without informing
anyone else.  Like Annamalai Swami's construction work.  Suri Nagamma writing her Letters... etc.,
When clashes erupted with Chinnaswami, Bhagavan Ramana kept silent.  Only when Chinnaswami
threatened Annamalai Swami that he would expel him (Annamalai Swami), Bhagavan Ramana said:
Then I shall also go with him!  Things became alright.

Like Ananda, St. John, and Swami Vivekananda, the collaborator was taken to the fold
of Brahmaswarupam - the Guru, at the appropriate time.

(Ideas from Arthur Osborne's article.)

Swami Niranjananda Swami felt that the cowshed should not  built as a large one.  But Annamalai
Swami made preparations for a large cowshed.  This was with Bhagavan's silent approval.
Because He knew the course of destiny as a Brahma Jnani, who is aware of the past, present and
future of all devotees and things that would happen.

With Ramanatha Brahmachari, Chinnaswami quarreled for some right reasons.  Brahmachari was
a terrible myopic wearing very thick glasses.  Still, as a Gandhian, he was making the thread with
his charka, the wheel.  Sarvadikari asked him to stop, lest it would weaken his eyesight further,
as he had to look into the slender thread always.  Brahmachari refused.  He lifted him bodily and
rolled him down the steps outside the kitchen.  Ramanatha did not still concede.  Sarvadikari stared
at him and said:  "Do you know who I am?"  Ramanatha Brahmachari politely answered:  If both of
us knew who we are, then we shall not be here."  Ramanatha spoke the Who am I? philosophy in
one sentence!

With Suri Nagamma, again, Sarvadikari did not want her to write the famous Letters from Sri
Ramanasramam, covering the incidents/conversations in the Hall.  Sarvadikari felt, as he had
experience of Paul Brunton, that such devotees might later write books and say that those were
their own ideas!  Suri Nagamma told him that she would stop.  But she continued, stealthily,
writing the days' conversations in the form of a letter, at night, in her small house.  Bhagavan
Ramana knew everything!

Verse  8.2:

Seeking Your bliss alone,
I am not at all after The delights of Indra or other gods.
O second-less One,
I live not apart from Your ankleted feet twain.
O my Lord who is God of all,
may my body  severed from soul -,
quake and may my hands folded over my head,
in adoration.
O Sire !
May my tears falling from my eyes swell into a stream.

Verse  8.1:

O One of grace-abounding eyes !
When I grew fit For mystic union,
You claimed Your right to rule me and cast Your benign looks on me.
Of what avail is this ? My embodied life,
when it is made manifest That it will not be merged with You?
Let it cease to be.
May Love link me to Your ankleted feet;
Grace me with ever-crescent bliss.

Verse  62:

O Abhirami!  Your husband had the golden mountain as the bow and burnt the Tripuras.  He had the
red eyed elephant's skin and His cloth.  He is the great benefactor.  You have occupied His half of the
body, with Your kurumbai (the coconut which is quite small)  like the breasts and made Him to give
half of His body.  You have got on Your golden hands the sugar cane bow and flowers of arrows,
and stay in my heart for ever!

Chapter 6:

1. Isvara:  Religious rituals are illusory.  The worlds are illusory.  The diverse attitudes are illusory.
Mansions are all illusory.  Fear is also illusory.  Supports and such are illusory.  The things experienced
are illusory. The many attachments are illusory.

2.  The Vedas are illusory too.  Words are illusory.  Sentences are illusory.  The diverse things are
illusory.  Wealth is illusory.  Sky is illusory.  The moon is illusory.  Objects are illusory.

3.  The Guru, too, is illusory.  Merits and defects are illusory. Secrecy, also is illusory.  Calculations are
illusory.  Motion is illusory. Movement is illusory.  What is said is illusory.  All are illusory.

4.Sacred lore such as the Vedas, the Sastras and the Puranas cause and effect; Isvara - the Lord,
the world, elements, beings --all these are illusory.  There is no doubt about this.

5.  Bondage-liberation, pleasure-pain, contemplation, mind stuff, gods-demons, primary-secondary,
the highest and the other are all illusory.  There is no doubt about this.

6. Whatever uttered in this least; whatever fancied through imagination and whatever thought
of the mind -- are all illusory.  There is no doubt about this.

7.  What little decided by the intellect, whenever (one is) led to by the mind, and whatever is compounded
to make up the world are all illusory.  There is no doubt about this.

Arunachala Siva.

6689
399.  The One Real Self, being really undivided, is taken as being divided into parts in many bodies,
which are all unreal.  The ignorant one looks upon that Whole, formless Self, as having form and therefore
also as many.

400.  As a seer of a cinema show, seeing a new picture every moment, thinks them all to be one, so the
ignorant man seeing a new body every moment, thinks all of them are one and the same.

401.  Thus all the time his mind is imagining a new soul in a new body every moment.  Hence the sages
say that this soul is both momentary and unreal.

402.  The man who has not experienced his own Real Self, thinking 'I am this body' sees himself as I,
the first person of grammar, sees another person whom he calls 'you' and in another body sees a third
person as 'he'.

403.   These three distinct persons are not real, because they are seen because of the false notion
'I am a body'.  When the ego (soul) is lost as the result of the Quest of the Real Self, then only that
Self, who is only Consciousness, will shine.

404.  To one who thinks of himself as a soul (or a body) a plurality of souls will appear.  But to the
Sage who is freed from this Ignorance, no soul will appear.

405.  On the lighted screen there pass women and men in great number, who are only pictures. So
too on the screen, the Consciousness, which is the Real Self, there pass a great many souls, who
are only mental projections.
