Verse  8:

பரப்புறு புகழ்ப்பெருமை யாளன்வரை தன்னால்
அரக்கனை யடர்த்தருளு மண்ணலிட மென்பர்
நெருக்குறு கடற்றிரைகண் முத்தமணி சிந்தச்
செருக்குறு பொழிற்பொலி திருப்புகலி யாமே.

The Lord has great fame spreading everywhere. People say that the place of the eminent one who pressed down demon (Rāvaṇaṉ) by the mountain the crowded waves of the scatter precious stones of pearls. It is Tiruppukali which is shining by the gardens which give joy.

நல்குரவு மின்பமும் நலங்களவை யாகி
வல்வினைகள் தீர்த்தருளு மைந்தனிட மென்பர்
பல்குமடி யார்கள்படி யாரவிசை பாடிச்
செல்வமறை யோருறை திருப்புகலி யாமே.

Tiruppukali where the Brahmins possessing the wealth of devotion sing music (in praise of the Lord) so that the ever-increasing devotees may enjoy sumptuously all happiness in this world. Having become poverty, objects of pleasure and welfare,
people say that it is the place of the valiant hero who completely removes the effects of irresistible sins.

வங்கமலி யுங்கடல் விடத்தினை நுகர்ந்த
அங்கண னருத்திசெய் திருக்குமிட மென்பர்
கொங்கண வியன்பொழிலின் மாசுபனி மூசத்
தெங்கணவு தேன்மலி திருப்புகலி யாமே.

Tiruppukali where abundant honey is available in the coconut trees on which the dew envelopes them like dust in the extensive gardens where honey is gathered.
People say that it is the shrine where the Lord of gracious eyes, who enjoyed the poison that rose in the ocean where there are many ships.

முன்னமிரு மூன்றுசம யங்களவை யாகிப்
பின்னையருள் செய்தபிறை யாளனுறை கோயில்
புன்னைய மலர்ப்பொழில்க ளக்கினொளி காட்டச்
செந்நெல்வய லார்தரு திருப்புகலி யாமே.

Having become in the beginning six religions the temple in which the Lord who has a crescent moon and who gave his grave even after that. He is Tiruppukali where there are abundant crops of red variety of paddy in the fields; The buds in gardens of mast-wood trees shine like Chank beads.

மைதவழு மாமிடறன் மாநடம தாடி
கைவளையி னாளொடு கலந்தபதி யென்பர்
செய்பணி பெருத்தெழு முருத்திரர்கள் கூடித்
தெய்வம திணக்குறு திருப்புகலி யாமே.

The Lord has a black neck on which the black color of the poison spreads one who has a black neck on which black color spreads like the sable cloud; The one, he performed the big dance. People say the place where the Lord is residing jointly with the lady who wears bangles on her hands, that place is Tiruppukali where the Rudras join together and do great services and thereby add divinity to that place.

பாவணவு சிந்தையவர் பத்தரொடு கூடி
நாவணவு மந்தணன் விருப்பிடம தென்பர்
பூவணவு சோலையிருண் மாலையெதிர் கூரத்
தேவண விழாவளர் திருப்புகலி யாமே.

People whose minds are closed to poetry (are saturated with poetry) joining with devotees, say that the place desired by the Brahmin who is always on the lips of devotees when they praise him. That place is Tiruppukali where festivals full of divinity are celebrated on an increasing scale, and where the gardens which have abundant flowers become increasingly dark in contrast to the evening.

வண்டிரை மதிச்சடை மிலைத்தபுனல் சூடிப்
பண்டெரிகை யாடுபர மன்பதிய தென்பர்
புண்டரிக வாசமது வீசமலர்ச் சோலைத்
தெண்டிரை கடற்பொலி திருப்புகலி யாமே.

Having worn the water which has surging waves on the matted locks which has put on the crescent moon, people say that the city belongs to the sublime Lord who danced with a fire in his hand, in the distant past. The garden has got flowers from which issues the fragrance of lotus; It flourishes like the sea of clear waves in the beautiful Pukali the garden is compared to the sea;

Verse  1:

முன்னிய கலைப்பொருளு மூவுலகில் வாழ்வும்
பன்னிய வொருத்தர்பழ வூர்வினவின் ஞாலந்
துன்னியிமை யோர்கள்துதி செய்துமுன் வணங்குஞ்
சென்னியர் விருப்புறு திருப்புகலி யாமே.

If any one asks about the old place of the unequaled god who gave out after great consideration the life in the three worlds and the subject matter of the arts that are to be pondered, having descended on the earth and joining as a crowd is Tiruppukali which is desired by the god who is on the heads of the gods who sing his praises and worship him first. [Arts are traditionally said to be sixty-four in number;]

Today is Kari Nayanar Guru Puja. Kari Nayanar attained salvation at Siva's feet on this day.  Masi month, Purada Star day.

About Kari Nayanar, I have already written in the serial post on Siva's 63 Saints.
Members are requested to go through the same.

Arunachala Siva. 

21. The sport of mental mode and even the intellect are non existent. I am without
the idea of the body, the intellectual resolve or imagination.

22. All are Brahman.  There is no doubt of this.  I am that Brahman. Of this there is no uncertainty. I am of the form of the certitude of intellect.  Oho, even this certainty goes.

23.  The diverse ways of egoism, the I am the body notion, all are Brahman.  There is no uncertainty of this.  I am that Brahman. There is no uncertainty of this.

24.  I am Brahman. Even at that, I am the blind. I am the deaf and I am the supreme.
All is Brahman.  There is no doubt of this. I am that Brahman.  There is no uncertainty
of this.

25.  The awareness 'I am the body' is the unification of the body and the supreme self. All is Brahman.  There is no doubt if this. I am that Brahman, there is no uncertainty of this.

26.  The awareness 'I am all', is the unification of all with the supreme self - achieve this disposition with endeavor, 'Brahman, indeed, am I - O Lord.'

27. Such is the firm certitude.  True. True. I am the supreme. That firm conviction results from the certitude on the Guru's utterances.

28.  Abide, ever established as the supreme in the sovereign state of strong conviction. I am indeed the supreme Brahman, the illuminator of the bliss of the self.

29, 30: Being Siva, where is worship of Siva for me?  Being Vishnu, where is the propitiation of Vishnu for me?  What little is comprehended, whatever certainty achieved anywhere;  'That indeed are thou'.  'Thou art indeed I' - nothing of this sort in the least.  This mind stuff and that which is seen - none of this exists indeed.

31.  Even if concepts of real and unreal should remain, distinctions such as 'this' and 'that' do not shine.  All of is not of any joyous nature.

We all are in exile. It is the condition of our lives.  We are all seeking or waiting for the time when somewhere, somehow we can discover and rest secure in our own home,
the place where we instinctively know we belong, whatever or wherever it may be.
Although we may be unsure of its shape, size and location, every single one of us
is aware at some deep atavistic level that home exists and we are searching for it.

Though we pretend we know what we want, it is rare that we do truly know.  We indulge in babbles; we read books and think we understand; we distract ourselves with day dreams and wishful thinking.  Our vision is clouded as we seek for what we think is home. We are full of concepts as we seek for what we think is home.  We are full of concepts about enlightenment, bliss, glory, power and knowledge as if we are conversant with the potency of these ideas. 

The trenchant observer Kabir sang:

If parroting the name of Rama brought salvation,
Then saying Sugarcane should sweeten the mouth,
Saying Fire burns the feet,
Saying Water slake the thirst,
And saying Food would be good as a bletch.
If saying Money made everyone rich,
There would be no beggars on the street.

The question is often asked by the newcomers to the Asramam: when is the teacher they can turn to now that Ramana Maharshi left this world in 1950? The normal response is what need to look elsewhere when Bhagavan is still there? It is all very
well for those who are convinced  because of their own intimate experience of Bhagavan's Grace but for the sceptics, more experience who are in desperate need for guidance, this is an unsatisfactory answer.

All of us who are devotees of Bhagavan know there is a subtle radiance ever available
if one but remains still and listen quietly with an open heart and mind.  The fact that people come again and again is a ample proof that they do 'get' something so fulfilling
that they eagerly want to return.  What is the grace that satisfies the heart and quietens the mind?

சிந்தை யிற்றுய ராய தீர்வரே.

மணம் பொருந்திய பொழில்கள் சூழ்ந்த சீகாழிப் பதியில் தோன்றிய ஞானசம்பந்தன் கருவூர் ஆனிலையை அடைந்து எம் தந்தையாகிய இறைவன் மேல் பாடிய இப்பதிகப்பாடல் பத்தையும் ஓத வல்லவர் மனத்துயர் தீர்வர்.

பித்தர் பேசிய பேச்சை விட்டுமெய்ப்
பத்தர் சேர்கரு வூரு ளானிலை
அத்தர் பாத மடைந்து வாழ்மினே.

புத்தர்களும் புன்மையான அறிவற்ற பொய்யுரைகளைக் கூறும் பித்தர்களாகிய சமணர்களும் பேசும் பேச்சுக்களை விட்டு உண்மையான பக்தர்கள் சேரும் கருவூர் ஆனிலையில் விளங்கும் மேலான இறைவனின் திருவடிகளை அடைந்து வாழுங்கள்.

உழுது மாநிலத் தேன மாகிமால்
தொழுது மாமல ரோனுங் காண்கிலார்
கழுதி னான்கரு வூரு ளானிலை
முழுது மாகிய மூர்த்தி பாதமே.

Vishnu transforming himself into a pig and digging the big earth and Brahma who is in a big flower, had not the ability to see Siva, and they worshipped him with joined hands. He has ghosts as his army. The feet of the god who has a visible form and who is all things and who is at Aṉilai in Karuvūr.
