Verse  24:

The blood gushing from fighters
Who were slaughtered, ran like
A river; the piles of corpses rose up
Huge like mountains.

The warriors who could slice away their foes
So fought that their enemies were cut to pieces;
Thus discharging the debt of gratitude, these too
Gave up their lives in the field of battle.

The opposing heroes of the dashing cavalry
Like unto a hurricane fought, in opposite rows
In exceeding wrath and killed each other.

Verse  21:

Like hills fighting against hills fought the tuskers
Of cascading and billowy must; with a force greater
Than that of the bowmen-riders with which they were
Plied, the murderous tuskers fought and got killed.

Sri Ramana:  "Happiness is your nature'

When asked about happiness Sri Ramana gave a seemingly startling answer.  He
insisted that there is no need to embark on an outward answer.  He insisted that there
is no need to embark on an outward bound pursuit of happiness, because happiness is already our nature.  All we need to do to experience it fully is to turn within.

In order to gain that happiness which is one's nature and which is experienced in the state of deep sleep where there is no mind, one should know one's self.  For that, the path of knowledge, the inquiry of the form 'Who am I?' is the principal means.

Sri Ramana said, 'Happiness is inherent in man and is not due to external causes. One must realize the Self to open the store of unalloyed happiness.

He told those who came to Him for guidance, 'As the Self is not outside but inside you,
you are asked to dive within, instead of going without.'

Regrettably, only relatively few people have been able to benefit from this sagacious advice.  This is not surprising, because Bhagavan's assertion is so sharply at variance with the way we normally think that it seems nearly impossible to believe that what He says may be true.

Nevertheless, it would be wise to at least give Sri Ramana the benefit of doubt.  After all, He does not ask us to blindly accept His words on faith.  He only asks us to look and see for ourselves. Regardless of how improbable His words may seem, if we summon the courage to follow His counsel we may yet discover that what He says is indeed true.

Bhagavan:

When the mind goes out, it experiences misery.  In truth, when its desires are fulfilled,
it returns to its own place and enjoys happiness that is the Self.  Similarly, in the states
of sleep, samadhi and fainting, and when the object desired is obtained or the object
disliked is removed, the mind becomes inward turned, and enjoys pure Self happiness.

-- Who am I?

Today is Ramana Jayanthi,  Bhagavan's 135th birthday.  For the Brahman which has
no birth or death, where is birth and birthday?   However, He took a birth, to tell
about atma vichara or total surrender.  The one of these two only will confer liberation
for sadhaka.

Bhagavan has said:-

"Your own Self-realization is the greatest service you can render the world.
No one succeeds without effort... Those who succeed owe their success to perseverance. The degree of freedom from unwanted thoughts and the degree of concentration on a single thought are the measures to gauge spiritual progress."

Praising the god in eminent Kōlakkā and composed by Jnana Sambandan, born in
Sirkazhi, having many good things those truthful people who are able to recite the verses which have the strength of the grace of god, will live with increasing prosperity as their Karmas are like the heavy round stone, leave them.

Padigam on Tiruk Kolakka completed.

those who follow the wrong ways [i.e. ] Jains, who fill up the dirt on their bodies which they willingly accumulate, without washing it and the Buddhists who cover their bodies with robes soaked in myrtle dye if those who do not pay heed to their teachings, praise Kōlakkā holding it as their refuge, their sins will vanish.

One who could not be seen by Brahma, who is seated in the fragrant (lotus) flowers and Vishnu, who is lying on the mighty serpent-bed, the perpetual youth who kicked the god of death, you live happily by praising the feet of the god who has a bull and dwells in Kōlakkā.

Belonging to the god who pressed down the long hands of the king of Lanka girt by the sea of surging waves, to be fractured the karmas of those who worship in the proper manner Kōlakkā where musicians sing music with seven notes without any error, will leave them of their own accord.

Near of those who worship with their hands the feet of the Lord which are crowded round by anklets, who is in Kōlakkā where, in the gardens having shades the swans of black bees hum like the music produced in the flute, there will be no sufferings.

You who wish destroy the Karmas which can ruin you ! The one who wears on his head fragrant Koṉṟai flowers, you live happily thinking in your mind the feet of our Lord who is in Kōlakkā where festivals in which flag is hoisted, are always celebrated.
