My mind!  If you want to save yourself, start to go to Pukalūr. Having destroyed by a single toe the King of superior Lanka, who lifted the great mountain, for his hand to sustain injury, and destroyed him, that act to appear permanently in him, you will attain true spiritual wisdom, if you praise Pukalūr, surrounded by natural tanks and in which Siva, who was able to grant boons to Ravanan, desires to dwell.

Though Siva is half male and half female, though he adorns himself as garlands cobras, he is a treasure for Pukalūr.  Eating as food receiving the alms given by the people of the village, though he desires the loin-cloth as his dress, wise people say that our god is the master.

Let people be of noble birth or of low birth, if they praise the eight attributes of Siva, they will obtain good higher stage of existence though they are such people. In cool and beautiful Pukalūr, where divine fragrance spreads in all the places by the honey which springs in flowers will fix their thoughts on the feet of the god on whose matted locks, a crescent moon is flourishing.

In Pukalūr,  where the male swans walk with beautiful gait, embracing the youthful female swans and make a noise in the petal-pieces of the river portion which has yellow flowers, if we think about the nature of Siva who has a beautiful form and who in the distant past burnt the three forts, it is very difficult to define him as such and such a person of having a nature and attributes, it is a little easy to praise him.

Carrying flowers waster and offerings of food, people who do not cease praising always with the tongue Pukalūr only. As the devotees think that the days when they cease to think of Siva, are days when consciousness is lost, they will not hear by the holes of their ears anything else except his greatness.

If you know these: i.e. the years you lived and the years you have to live, those days in which you did not praise our Lord are days passed away without any benefit.
People who have no good fortune!  you who have your minds always thinking of Pukalūr only which is the abode of Siva who wears on his twisted matted locks, a segment of the moon (a crescent moon), your sufferings will be removed.

In Pukalūr, where the water is combined with fragrance as the young girls who have tresses of hair full of honey which is desired by all and where the bright black carp fish with red eyes leap. Wearing a crescent moon, to praise the feet of our god who set fire to the three cities by a single arrow, daily, sufferings will begin to cease.

The Magnificence of Pratyabhijnaa, the Experiential Awakening.

Preamble:

In the last issue, we saw how Bhagavan Ramana in His dialogues with seekers in Talks
with Sri Ramana Maharshi shed light on the real nature of the so called Enlightenment
and the principal means to unravel its mystery.  We discovered the paradoxical truth that though He was recognized as a great Sage of modern times who perpetually
dwelt in the Sahaja Samadhi, He was consistently engaged in demystifying the nature of spiritual Awakening, called Pratyabhijnaa.

Rendered as 'Recognition of the Self', this accurate translation does simplify the meaning of the term in the linguistic sense.  Lest we construe this recognition as merely an intellectual appreciation of the higher Truth as revealed in the Upanishads,
we would do well to recall an anecdote in Lord Buddha's life.

(A Study in the Mysticism of Rabi'a of Basara and St. Teresa of Avila:)

There is a deep rooted kinship which exists between the souls of East and West.  As Rudolph Otto has pointed out, 'There are strong primal impulses working in the human soul which as such are completely unaffected by differences of climate, of geographical position or race,  There are show in their similarity an inner relationship of types of human experience and spiritual life which is truly astonishing.  (Otto, Rudolph, Mysticism East and West, New York  The Macmillan Co. 1932.)

When we examine the spiritual experiences of mystics like Sufi saint Rabi's of Basra and St. Teresa of Avila we discover similarities. It is the purpose of this study to present these two saints from the perspective of their practical mysticism of divine love, that our own vision and understanding may be enhanced.

Such were the words of the tribal bards, Jibril, Nuratin and Magrupi.  They also warned us that this is the most perfect rose, life, lasts but a single instant in the history of the whole world.  Then it withers and fades away.  There was no time to seek out an absolute knowledge:  we had to see life as 'the lilting melody of an old village song',
sweet and mournful, full of bitterness and sorrow because of 'the pain of the Gypsies',
but also tender, compassionate, bearing witness to an incurable love of the beauty of the world. And for them nothing was easier to drink in this beauty, as if it were a well fortified red wine that intoxicated man which he paused, lingered over it, permitted it to instruct and solace him. Beauty was given to us in the butterfly with sun golden wings, the tiny song bird that dipped its beak into the water of a cool, sweet fountain, the swaying form of a maiden with a face of milk and honey, and the wonderment of a child seeing green grass, tall trees and distant stars for the first time.  Everything was an Aya, a symbol or portent of the mysterious force that created the universe. And everything was meant to instruct us, to make us see the whole world as if it had come into existence only an instantg ago, and was drenched in the sanctity and grandeur of the Garden of Eden.

Chapter 35:

1. Ribhu:  Listen, O Nidagha, to what I say. This is the secret and the bestower of instant liberation to men.  All of this is the Self, nothing else.  I am the untroubled supreme Self.

2.  I am indeed the supreme Brahman, the embodiment of Being Awareness Bliss.
I am.  I am great. I am Siva. I am the highest.

3.  The supreme Brahman is not seen.  It is not of a different nature.  All is indeed
non existent, indeed, non existent. I am just Brahman alone.

4. I am the peaceful and supreme Brahman, ever eternally blemish-less. All is indeed non existent, indeed, non existent.  I am just Brahman alone.

5. I am free from all thoughts and devoid of all joys.  I am the embodiment of time,
action, the world, duality, the seer and seeing.

6.  I am bliss, ever happy, alone and the beloved of the world. I am of uniform nature. I am eternal, the past, the future, the unborn and the victorious.

7.  I am just Consciousness and ever liberated.  The individual and bondage do not exist.  Listening, the six of characteristics and a world like this do not exist.

8. I am devoid of the mind and the world.  The world is ever Consciousness. Mind alone is amiable to body.  Non inquiry is the great foe.

9.  Non  inquiry is the sorrow of the world. Non inquiry is the great fear.  I am satisfied immediately and always, the all perfect, the supreme and grand.

10.  I am eternally pure. I am enlightened. I am the space of consciousness and sentience. All of this is the Self, verily, nothing else.  I am the supreme Self, unbroken.
