The place where the Lord was residing to remove the approaching sufferings of his devotees who bow to his feet many days, praising ceaselessly He is our Lord;
he will accept us as his protege is Veṇkātu where the parrots speak words like the sound of the Vēdam.

Tiru Venkatu:

Verse  1:

Meditating in their minds, 'O Lord who has Uma as a half! You drank the poison!'
The Lord who severs the sufferings of the devotees who wander about with devotion, the place of our father, is Veṇkāṭu where the black bees hum like the music of [the] Yāzh [while] sitting on the white lotus.

31.  He who teaches that you are Brahman alone is the Guru.  Be certain of this.
Again, you are that, Brahman.  You alone are the true Guru.

32.  Certitude in the sadguru's words means certitude in knowledge.  He who endeavors
thus always becomes liberated.  There is no question about this.

33.  The statement 'tat tvam asi' is the great aphorism and the Guru's utterance as well. The mind which hears this alone said to be listening. Nothing else is worthy of  calling as hearing.

34. The crux of all utterances of Vedanta is the abidance in the non dual Brahman.
This much is heard from the Guru's mouth.  Thus hear about Brahman.

35. The Guru is no other but the seer of the Mantras.  The sadguru is only one.  By whom it is said 'You are Brahman', he alone is the sadguru.

36.  Listening to Vedanta is called hearing. Nothing else is worth calling hearing.  Inquiring by way of reflection is called reflection.

37.  Thus the sandalwood tree and whatever is heard are examined. Even after 'You are Brahman' is said, doubt is perceived.

38.  Investigate. Be determined.  Thus, inquire well about the self. I tell you here what reasoning is - that the perishable body is not I.

39.  The gross body, the subtle body - gross, subtle and causal; as these three are absent  in the fourth state, all is only consciousness.

40.  All of this is naught, because of being insentient, being the seen and being like the pot (unlike space in it which is not subject to destruction).  I am only consciousness here and because of being the seer not subject to dissolution.

(Subramania Bharati - Translated by J. Jayaraman)

Mountain Path April June 2016.

**

We can infer from Sri Devaraja Mudaliar's Day by Day with Bhagavan, the diary entry dated June 3rd, 1946, that the great Tamizh poet Bharathiar indeed, did once visit
Maharshi Ramana, during the Skandasramam period (1915-1922). This is quoted below:

'G.V. Subbaramayya:  Did Subramania Bharati ever come to Bhagavan?

Bhagavan:  I think he did once.  It was then we were on the Hill. One evening when only Sivayya (late Kutraalam Mauni Swami) was with me, someone came and sat for nearly an hour before me and then went away without saying a word.  Later when I saw the pictures of Bharati, I thought it must have been he.'

Bharati quit the Tamizh daily Swadesamitran as its Assistant Editor to join the Tamizh
weekly India in 1906.  Following the Bengal Partition riots in 1905, he sought refuge in French Pondicherry owing to persecution of freedom activists by the British powers.
When the First World War was over in 1918, Bharati was granted safe residence out of Pondicherry, in his home town in Tirunelveli district. From 1920, upon the invitation of his penultimate employer Swadesamitran, he resumed as its Assistant Editor at Madras (Chennai).

Sri Pe.Su. Mani, a doyen among the relentless journal researchers, and who is still
active, dug out from the archival issues of Swadesamitran, the fact that Bharatiar's
twin talks at the Aruhnachaleswara Temple precincts, of May 1921, had been reported in the issues immediately following the events, in Mitran issues of May 3rd and 5th under the banner 'Bharati in Tiruvannamalai'.

Our habitual indifference to anything but immediate gratification is the reason we are in
exile.  When death comes it will not be a pleasant experience if we are not ready.  In very blunt words:  we have a choice to either die unknowing like an animal, or in denial like someone who has gone through life and learnt nothing, or soar above on wings of discrimination and detachment, glad at last to be going home.  The answer is obvious.
May we too one day sing with Bhagavan:

Arunachala!
What a wonder of your grace is this,
That you entered the home of my mind,
Dragged me from it by force,
And imprisoned me permanently
In the abode of your Heart,
Without any possibility of escape.

(Verse 3. Arunachala Aksharamanamalai, a detailed commentary by Muhavai Kanna
Muruganar, Translated by Robert Butler,2015).

concluded.

ஊன மிலரா யும்பர் வானத் துறைவாரே.

Those who are capable of singing these verses praising the feet of Siva who dwells in the jungle of Tirup Pasur,  where then and bees hum like sweet music, by Jnana Sambandhan, who is a native of Sirkazhi and who realized in himself knowledge of Siva, without any defect, will dwell in the heaven where celestial beings live.

Padigam on Tirup Pasur concluded.

the place of Siva who has in his hand a dead skull from which the teeth have fallen.
is Pasur, where the cranes of wide open mouth take in a swoop brownish sand.

Siva gave a sharp sword having made the King of Lanka surrounded by ocean and whose luster did not decrease, feel ashamed, by pressing him down. Pāsūr which is surrounded by tanks having moss, and fields is the place of the god who grants greatness on those who speak about Siva only and none others.

Siva has one frontal eye by the side of the eyes in the face. He will grant his grace when his devotees praise him as long as they meditate on him, thinking of his feet.
The place of Siva who grants joy for the heart to melt always is Pasur where the singing of the ladies who speak sweet words like melody-types, never cease.

Siva grants his grace when his devotees praised him to the full satisfaction of their minds as the god of greatness, at both times when they move from their places and return to them.
