One needs to be dispassionate in objective analysis in order to avoid hasty conclusions.
Swami Vivekananda said true religion take you to the limits of reason and then  transcends it but never violates the canons of reason.  It is worthless to keep in mind a popular Subhaashitam (often cited by Bhagavan), saying that 'one should accept what is uttered by even a callow youth if it appeals to reason but reject as a trivial blade of grass anything that violates rational logic if uttered by Lotus born Brahma, the Creator. Hard core Advaitic understanding demands this fundamental tenet to be adhered to scrupulously, lest one gets carried away by sentimental attachments or emotional loyalties to personalities however famous they may be.

We can safely say that words can reveal knowledge when well used (Katha Upanishad 1.2.8) in line with scriptural reasoning but obfuscate when handled flippantly and divert the quest off the mark.  Perverse dialectics can turn out to be baneful if we are not vigilant.  If words themselves can reveal knowledge, then does it not amount to Enlightenment being purely a matter of intellectual understanding which negates all intuitive experience, mystical or supra mental that transcend the mind?

No, we say - words can 'reveal' (when taught by a Sadguru, charged as they are with his ineffable Grace) through the implication (lakshyartha) and right guidance by the so called 'leading error principle' (samvaadi bhrama) and not directly by their literal meaning (Vachyaartha).

In Pātiri Puliyūr where good people are crowded, sung by Jnana Sambandhan in the wide Sirkazhi, which has Brahmins in large numbers, the acts good and bad will vanish as evils will not come to approach people who retain in their minds these ten-
Tamizh verses, which are garlands having rhythmic movement.

Padigam on Tirup Pathirip Puliyur completed.

People of this world praise only Patirip Puliyūr, of the chief who desires the white sacred ash, without listening to the words which were spoken out of jealousy by the big Buddhists and the low Jains who observe religious austerities wandering in the streets with bodies stripped off their clothes.

In Pātirip Puliyūr where the beautiful mast-wood trees in the beautiful garden in which the swans leap, shed their pollen, Vishnu who measured long ago with this feet the three worlds and four faced Brahma, the god, Siva, who is the right conduct of penance, remains, whose head and feet could not be known even a little, though both of them made efforts.

Siva fixed his toe for a short while to make the King of Lanka, who had rising pride, to lose his zeal and roar under the mountain. To have a vision of Partirip Puliyūr which has water in which flowers spread their fragrance, our acts will become weaned and will not approach us and will become thin.

In the sea-shore garden where the bees which rub the pollen in the flowers hum noisily, the sound of the conches rises accompanied by the sound of the drum which can produce a loud sound. In Pātirip Puliyūr, where sounds which are increasing in tempo are always loud. People of this world!  approach Siva who tied a cobra in his waist.

Ghosts which have a wide open mouths in which fire in shining, to dance, their minds becoming tender, the place of the chief who dwells in the cremation ground where red-flowered silk cotton trees grow, to meditate on Pātirip Puliyūr where flocks of birds are always living. Siva who is in Pātirippuliyūr where the tall mast-wood tree spreads its fragrance without ceasing, having bestowed his grace to a hare with a crippled leg which remained there, long ago [A sage by name Mankanar was cursed to become a hare with crippled leg and he was freed from that curse in this shrine].  Those who have not so much of good fortune as to worship Siva in this shrine will obtain a body here to all diseases which never leave them, in the next birth.

31.  Even giving away millions in charity is nothing compared to the abidance of 'I am Brahma. All pleasures are just like grass when compared to the abidance of 'I am Brahman.'

32.  The fruit of the disposition 'Brahman is indeed, all' is verily itself.  The equivalent of the abidance of 'I am Brahman' is Brahman alone.

33. Therefore, even while in dream and at all other times, having renounced all with effort, I am Brahman.  There is no doubt of this.  I am my own refuge,

34. I, indeed, am ever, naught else. I alone am ever the Guru. I am the supreme Self.
I alone, am, never another.

35.  I alone the Guru and the disciple. Be of the certainty 'I alone am'.  The limited world pointed out as 'this' is naught.

In the  Interior Castle, written between June and November, 1577, she describes her vision of the soul as 'most beautiful crystal globe, made in the shape of a castle, and containing seven mansions, in the seventh of which was the King of Glory, in the greatest splendor, illumining and beautifying them all. The nearer one got to the center, the stronger was the light; outside the palace limits everything was foul, dark and infected with the toads, vipers and other venomous creatures.' (St. Teresa of Avila, Interior Castle, Tr. E. Allison Peers, Garden City: Image Books, 1961).  The soul advances through the mansions, in its quest for perfection and communion with God. (Life, p. 109). The first three mansions correspond to the Purgative stage.

Teresa declares in the first mansion that we are made in the image and likeness of God, but through our own fault 'we do not understand ourselves or know who we are.'
If we understand ourselves we will 'strive to remove the pitch which blackens the crystal.'  In order to know ourselves we must seek to know God. That is to be achieved through embracing the cross:  'let her (him) who is capable of the greatest sufferings suffer most for Him.'  After much physical suffering in her own life she came to scorn her poor health: 'Even if I die it is of little consequence. Rest, indeed.. I need no rest; what I need is crosses.'
