கையிலார்ந்த வெண்மழுவொன் றுடையீர்கடிய கரியின்றோல்
மயிலார்ந்த சாயன்மட மங்கைவெருவ மெய்போர்த்தீர்
பயிலார்ந்த வேதியர்கள் பதியாய்விளங்கும் பைம்புகலி
எயிலார்ந்த கோயிலே கோயிலாக விசைந்தீரே.

You have in your hand a white-hot iron. You covered your body with the skin of a fearful elephant to make the young lady having the tenderness of a peacock, to be frightened. You agreed to reside in the temple having a wall of enclosure in fertile Pukali which is shining as the place of Vedhiyar (Brahmins) who always train themselves in Vēdas and other arts, as the temple desired by you.

Verse  3:

அழிமல்கு பூம்புனலு மரவுஞ்சடைமே லடைவெய்த
மொழிமல்கு மாமறையீர் கறையார்கண்டத் தெண்டோளீர்
பொழின்மல்கு வண்டினங்க ளறையுங்கானற் பூம்புகலி
எழின்மல்கு கோயிலே கோயிலாக விருந்தீரே.

The beautiful water (of Ganga) which has the capacity of complete destruction and cobra are on the matted locks, in an order. You are always chanting the great Vedas (Vēdams), you have eight arms and a black neck. You stayed in the temple of increasing beauty in pleasant Pukali which has sea-shore gardens where the swarms of bees are flourishing in the garden, as the temple desired by you.

Verse  2:

நீரார்ந்த செஞ்சடையீர் நிரையார்கழல்சேர் பாதத்தீர்
ஊரார்ந்த சில்பலியீ ருழைமானுரிதோ லாடையீர்
போரார்ந்த தெண்டிரைசென் றணையுங்கானற் பூம்புகலிச்
சீரார்ந்த கோயிலே கோயிலாகச் சேர்ந்தீரே.

You have red matted locks, which is full of water. You have in your feet anklets adorned in a row. You have some alms collected in many places. You have dressed yourself with the skin of a spotted deer flayed from its body. You dwelt in the temple of great fame in beautiful Pukali which has sea-shore gardens which are reached by the clear waves which are dashing against the shore, as the temple desired by you.
[When the waves dash against the sea-shore it appears as if the water is fighting with the land.].

Tirup Pukali: (another name for Sirkazhi)

Verse 1:

உருவார்ந்த மெல்லியலோர் பாகமுடையீர் அடைவோர்க்குக்
கருவார்ந்த வானுலகங் காட்டிக்கொடுத்தல் கருத்தானீர்
பொருவார்ந்த தெண்கடலொண் சங்கந்திளைக்கும் பூம்புகலித்
திருவார்ந்த கோயிலே கோயிலாகத் திகழ்ந்தீரே.

You have on one half a lady of tender nature who has a brilliant form. You have the idea of showing and bestowing on those who approach you, the heaven which has the seed of your grace. You were eminent in thinking the temple having wealth in beautiful Pukali, where the bright conches moving from the clear sea which is always dashing against the shore, are always present, as the temple desired by you.

Today is Holi Festival.  The day on which Manmatha is burnt and from Siva's eyes,
comes the fire which is dropped in Saravana Pond, and from there, Muruga comes forth
and He kills Surapadma and his brothers, to relieve the devas from the suffering.

This festival is celebrated in North India and in parts of Northern Karnataka.

21.  Investigate into the comparisons and contrasts, and actions and inactions of things. I am if the form of Being Awareness Bliss. This world is ungenerated.

22. Brahman alone is all of this. This world is expanse of consciousness.  Brahman alone is the supreme bliss, the Lord, akin to all pervasive space.

23. Brahman is indeed Existence Awareness Bliss, ever unapproachable by speech.  Brahman alone is all of this. Some say it is, some say it is not.

24. Even an iota of Bliss, is real and unreal as well.  Brahman alone is all this  -- always just real, indeed.

25.  Brahman alone is all of this, a mass of Consciousness and Bliss, embodied. Brahman alone is being and reality.  I am the ancient and the great.

26. Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, stationed as the warp and woof. Brahman is indeed Existence Awareness Bliss, the form of all and the ancient.

27.  Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, the undiminishing, supreme Bliss. Brahman is indeed Existence Awareness Bliss, transcending the delusive power of
Maya and taintless.

28. Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, simply existence, joy of joys. Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, of the nature of unitary consciousness.

29.  Brahman is indeed, Being Awareness Bliss, bereft of all distinction. Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, abiding here as manifold forms.

30.  Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, the subject  and circumstance as well. Brahman is indeed Being Awareness Bliss, of the nature of transcendental Light.

Around nine that night the train puffed into Tiruvannamalai station. No lights were burning and only from the conversation of passengers I knew which station it was.
I watched if anyone was alighting from the train.  A person sitting opposite descended into the darkness and I followed suit.  It now came as a revelation to me that missing the morning train was itself an outcome of Bhagavan's grace!  Had I taken that train, I could not have disembarked at Tiruvannamalai in broad daylight.  I simply followed the other passenger not knowing where he was heading.  Nor had I any idea of the distance I covered following him.

At last, my 'guide' stopped when he came by a mantapam (road side resting halls, open on all sides, built to provide shelter to travelers in transit).  With his towel, he whisked the floor clean of dust and lay down to sleep. I too followed suit and instantly fell blissfully asleep.  Two days without food and overcome by exhaustion, yet I was thrilled at having arrived at my destination.  When I awoke, it was about 5 am.  There was no sign of my 'guide'.  Ahead there stood the Hill Arunachala, in full view.

Recalling to mind the letters of Ramakrishana Swami, the friend whom I had earlier dispatched here, which described landmarks to reach Bhagavan's Asramam, I reached the foot of the Hill immediately behind the Arunachaleswara Temple. There I saw steps leading up the Hill, but at three different spots.  They left me puzzled.  Taking a chance, I ventured up the steps on the right side.  A little away up I could see a building and approached it.  There I saw a person, (the well known Jadai Swami) attired in the ochre with tresses of hair reaching down to the floor.  Having seen Bhagavan's photograph before, I knew that this man was not he and bolted back down the steps.  I believed at that time that ascetics wearing long tresses would throw curses at you when disturbed.  I now took the flight of steps in the middle.  A little away I came across a tank (the Paadatirtham) and saw two peoples standing by its bank (later I learnt that the two were Tambiran Swami and Kamakshi, Mudaliar Patti's son and daughter in law.).

When evening came, I approached the ticket counter half an hour in advance, -- only
to be told that tickets to Tiruvannamalai station would not be issued!  This information, the reason for which I could not guess, left me stunned. An elderly man by my side, seeing my plight called me and queried the reason for my despair, and came out with a solution. He said, 'There has been an outbreak of plague in Tiruvannamalai, but the epidemic has now lost its intensity. Still, the railways have not resumed issuing tickets to that station.  You can, instead, buy a ticket to Tirukoilur (which was some twenty miles beyond Tiruvannamalai and board the train.  On the way, this train would anyhow halt at Tiruvannamalai to unload mail bags.  You too can detrain under cover of darkness.'

This piece of advice came as a great relief. I tendered all the change I had and asked for a ticket to Tirukoilur, but the amount was still a quarter anna short for the price of  the ticket.  Thoroughly vexed, I retired to a corner of the platform thinking only of Bhagavan. And Oh! What compassion!  I spotted a quarter anna coin lying nearby between the tracks. Grabbing it with all haste I rushed again to the ticket counter.  My train steamed into the station just as the ticket fell to my hand.  I was wonderstruck at Bhagavan's act of grace towards this poor boy.  It was undoubtedly a miracle that I had been meted out with the exact amount I needed, no more, no less!  May be it was a ruling from Bhagavan that those coming under His grace would be provided with the just barest necessities!

Verse 11:

மையி னார்மணி போல்மி டற்றனை மாசில் வெண்பொடிப் பூசும் மார்பனைப்
பைய தேன்பொழில்சூழ் புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்
ஐய னைப்புக ழான காழியுள் ஆய்ந்த நான்மறை ஞான சம்பந்தன்
செய்யுள் பாடவல்லார் சிவலோகஞ் சேர்வாரே.

On Siva who has a beautiful neck like the sable cloud, who smears on his chest the white sacred ash which has no blemish, and the master who is in Puṟavār Paṉankaṭṭūr surrounded by gardens having fresh honey, those who are able to sing the poems of Jnana Sambandhan, who had knowledge of the four Vēdas which he investigated and who is a native of famous Sirkazhi, will reach Siva Lōkam after death.

நீண மார்முரு குண்டு வண்டினம் நீல மாமலர் கவ்வி நேரிசை
பாணில் யாழ்முரலும் புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்
நாண ழிந்துழல் வார்ச மணரும் நண்பில் சாக்கிய ரும்ந கத்தலை
ஊணுரி யவனே உகப்பார்க் கருளாயே.

The swarm of bees biting the big blue Nelumbo flowers drinking the honey found in abundance in Paṉankāṭṭūr humming like the melody Nērisai among the melodies, like the music of the Yāzh, the Jains who wander naked without shame and Buddhists who have no friendly feeling, to laugh derisively at you. Siva who has the right of eating in the skull! Grant your grace to those who desire you.

Verse  9:

அந்தண் மாதவி புன்னை நல்ல அசோக மும்மர விந்தம் மல்லிகை
பைந்தண் ஞாழல்கள் சூழ்புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்
எந்தி ளம்முகில் வண்ணன் நான்முகன் என்றி வர்க்கரி தாய்நி மிர்ந்ததொர்
சந்தம் ஆயவனே தவத்தார்க் கருளாயே.

In Puṟavār Paṉankāṭṭūr surrounded by the beautiful and cool delight of the woods, mast wood trees, flourishing Asoka trees, lotus, jasmine, and verdant, cool fetid cassia, beautiful, Siva who grew tall as a column of fire so as to be difficult for Vishnu who has the color of the forming cloud rising high and Brahma of four faces,
grant your grace to those who did penance to have a vision of your form.

தூவி யஞ்சிறை மெல்ந டையன மல்கி யொல்கிய தூமலர்ப் பொய்கைப்
பாவில் வண்டறையும் புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்
மேவி யந்நிலை யாய ரக்கன தோள டர்த்தவன் பாடல் கேட்டருள்
ஏவியெம் பெருமான் என்பவர்க் கருளாயே.

In the expanse of the natural tanks of fresh flowers where the swans of soft gait and downs and internal feathers increase and become bent, dwelling in Puṟavār Paṉaṅkāṭṭūr where the bees hum loudly, pressing down the shoulders of the demon who was in that position of being caught under the mountain, grant your grace to those who praise you as the god who ordered his grace to reach him on hearing him sing Sama Vēdam.

கைய ரிவையர் மெல்வி ரல்லவை காட்டி யம்மலர்க் காந்த ளங்குறி
பையரா விரியும் புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்
மெய்ய ரிவையொர் பாக மாகவும் மேவி னாய்கழ லேத்தி நாடொறும்
பொய்யிலா வடிமை புரிந்தார்க் கருளாயே.

In Puṟavār Paṉankāṭṭūr where the beautiful marks the red specie of Malabar glory lily, exhibiting like the soft fingers of ladies, unfolds its petals like the beautiful hood of the cobra, you desired to have in your body as a half a lady. Grant your grace to those who did faithfully service daily praising your feet.

நீரி னார்வரை கோலி மால்கடல் நீடி யபொழில் சூழ்ந்து வைகலும்
பாரினார் பிரியாப் புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்க்
காரி னார்மலர்க் கொன்றை தாங்கு கடவு ளென்றுகை கூப்பி நாடொறும்
சீரினால் வணங்குந் திறத்தார்க் கருளாயே.

Surrounded by long gardens which are like the great sea, fixing the boundary by the water, in Puṟavār Paṉankāṭṭūr which the people of this world do not leave every day.
joining their hands in worship saying, the god who bears Koṉṟai flowers which blossom profusely in winter.  Grant your grace to those who pay homage to you daily in an excellent manner.

செங்க யல்லொடு சேல்செ ருச்செயச் சீறி யாழ்முரல் தேனி னத்தொடு
பங்கயம் மலரும் புறவார் பனங்காட்டூர்க்
கங்கை யும்மதி யுங்க மழ்சடைக் கேண்மை யாளொடுங் கூடி மான்மறி
அங்கை யாடலனே அடியார்க் கருளாயே.

As the Sēl (a fresh water fish) fights with the red colored carp in Puṟavār Paṉankāṭṭūr the lotus blossoms with the swarms of bees which hum like the music of the small Yazh. United with a lady who has the relationship of wife, and  fragrant matted locks,  in which Ganga and a crescent moon are staying, who has on his beautiful hand a young deer! Grant your grace to your devotees.
