My Lord who is day and night! I, who am a hereditary worshipper will never cease from praising you Lord of great eminence who has a spreading matted locks, on which there are as, and which is adorned with blossomed fragrant Koṉṟai flowers and Kurāl bottle-flower you resided in Pukali, with a lady of graceful gait like the swan, having pressed down the group of shoulders of the king of Lanka, surrounded by the roaring sea.

You remove the irresistible many sins which are as crowded as a thick bush, when the devotees worship you and the immortals praise you. You embraced tightly in your chest smeared with ash, a lady speaking good words, having a waist like Thuti and broad sides, the embodiment of all virtuous acts! The pure one! you have a bright colored bull.  You are attached to the city of Pukali, sins are not capable of adhering to devotees if they worship your feet.

Except that the people of this world can speak only about your greatness in having saved the world and its inhabitants by the right of your having swallowed the poison shining with black color, which rose in the ocean. You cannot be measured by any amount of difficult research. You were shining with brilliance daily in this world in Pukali, which abounds in the wealth got from the sea, along with a lady whose waist is as slender as a serpent for the four objectives of human pursuit to gather there.

You have a shining battle axe,  you adorns an upper cloth, the skin of an elephant, on your form which is as bright as fire. You performed a rare dance to the accompaniment of flawless Muzhavu, when the sound of anklets and the sound of Silampu made a big sound, is the root; you wore the crescent moon on your head you resided with beauty in Pukali having fragrant parks to be worshipped by the devotees.

You sang the difficult Vēdas, according to tradition, in the part, you danced in the difficult forest to be witnessed by the wives of the sages in Darukāvanam; You danced in the cremation ground to be witnessed by Uma, is another meaning you killed the god of death immaculate god who has on his head a white crescent moon, that increases in size and which has brilliant light. You desired as your place the city of Pukali itself which has a high wall of enclosure, for your devotees to worship you only.
Grant us the way to do penance.

8. All is simply mental resolve. The whole world is Brahman.  The knowledge of the Self is supreme Brahman.  The significance of repetition Om is bliss.

9.  Duality or non duality, constant duality and honor and dishonor -- all being just
Consciousness, nothing in the least exists as separate.

10.  I am Brahman, the bliss of the Self.  The immanent awareness is Brahman, indeed.
The form of 'this', the form of 'I', the analysis of likes and dislikes,

11.  whatever is experienced in the world, whatever created by effort, what is endless and the concept of Brahman -- are all fabrications of mind.

12. I am, indeed, the gross body here. I am, indeed, the subtle body too.  Differences of the intellect, distinctions of the mind, ego, insentience and 'that' --

13. everything being just Consciousness, nothing else in the least exists as different -
be it listening, reflection, or inquiry about realization.

14. I am, indeed, the Self, the supreme. I am myself not full of delusion.  All of this is
Brahman alone.  Brahman, indeed, is the supreme state.

15. Brahman alone is the cause and effect.  Brahman alone is the victory over the world.  Brahman is all Consciousness. Brahman alone becomes the mind.

We truly forget the presence if the over crowded, ego driven, ignorant and messed up world outside us.  It is a wonderful surprise that such a secluded place exists on this earth, that can enlighten and elevate us above all vasanas. Sri Ramanasramam is not
abode form worldly people. One must have practiced intense penance in previous lives in order to step into such an Asramam and have spiritual experiences.

Sri Ramanasramam is the ultimate destination for a true seeker of the Self. I see the devotees in the Asramam, and I can in no way think that they are ordinary people.  I feel the presence of great Rishis, Sadhus and Jnanis among them.  The devotees who have come from far off lands in search of such destination, dedicating their lives at His feet, truly belong to this place.  I feel inferior to them when I see them chanting Sri Rudram and singing Tamizh parayana. Guru Ramana shows no discrimination between the rich and poor, black and white, literate and illiterate, East and West and showers His grace through His divine look according to each person's inner capacity and yearning.

I bow in thanks to Lord Guru Ramana Mahadeva for having created this divine temple of self knowledge for His devotees on this earth.

Paroksha Jnanam and Aparoksha Jnanam in Advaita Vedanta:

Applying the cue from this example (drshtaantham) to the 'main theme' (daarshtaantham) on hand, Vidayranya boldly asserts that the paroksha jnaanam gained from the Sastras through Sravanam and Mananam -- that the Jiva is in reality Brahman only, as revealed by the Tat Tvam Asi Mahavakya -- comes under the category of Samvaadi Bhrama only because the seeker does not have direct or immediate knowledge of the Pramana and the Apta Vakya (teachings of the Sadguru) which pays off in the end, as he attains direct knowledge (Aparoksha Jnanam) in due course through unremitting nididyaasanam.  Therefore faith (Sraddha) in the revelation of the Sastras and Guru upadesa and commitment to the pursuit (mumukshatavam) and perseverance are indispensable ingredients for Enlightenment to manifest.

The mediated knowledge of the Self through the vision of the Advaita Vedanta Sastra corresponds to the 'erroneous knowledge' of the first traveler who eventually succeeds
in his pursuit of the gem in the above example.  But it is 'a leading error' because it
'leads us successfully' towards realization (Pratyabhjnanam) of the 'ever attained' goal (praaptasya praapti, verse 155).  But any other teaching not Advaitic in content or essence, from whichever source it has arisen, can only be a 'fruitless error' (Visamvaadi bhrama) for it can never liberate the seeker from the primal ignorance of the Self and consequently from the beginning-less Samsara. Sraddha is then a case of provisional acceptance of the Vedantic revelation giving it a benefit of doubt as it were, pending verification. It becomes superfluous upon eventual vindication in one's
experience because direct vision then supercedes the article of faith.

General Discussion / Re: Two Lovers, One Beloved - Margaret Laulor:
« on: March 30, 2017, 11:54:10 AM »
When the outward life of senses has been purified, it is necessary to bring the inward faculties of thought, feeling and will into conformity with the Divine will in order to be transformed wholly into the likeness of the Beloved.  The individual soul has no desire or wish, having renounced all save the will of God.  Love of God must first be present. Then only can the lover obey.  It is for this reason that Rabi'a said: 'Hadst thou been true in love, thou wouldst have surely obeyed Him. For the love is always obedient to his Beloved.'

When asked what she desired, she replied: 'I am a servant, and what has a servant to do with the desire?  If I will anything and my Lord does not will it, this would be unbelief.  That should be willed which He wills, in order to be His true servant. (Way, p.221).

Prayer for Rabi'a was not merely a matter of intercession; rather it was a time of communion with God that she might discover His will for her.  She allowed no created thing to distract her from the Creator.  Her love, then, went far beyond the love of God, which is obligatory of all Muslims.

The place where the god resides along with a lady who has a lean and minute waist and eyes resembling fat Karnatic carp, with the words, we will worship beautiful Pūntarai, where there are flower parks in which there is honey. With the help of the garland of enlightening Tamizh verses composed by Jnana Sambandhan, who knows the four Vedas, the three divisions of Tamizh,  sins will not approach those who can praise, to raise themselves spiritually.

Padigam on Tirup Puntarai (Sirkazhi) completed.

The lady who has the tender nature of the big peacock having a tail and speaks soft words which are as sweet as the juice of the sugar-cane. About the Lord who has a part of Uma who has shining tresses of hair adorned with flowers and a bright forehead gleaming with rays. Created the ignorant persons of Jains and Buddhists who speak inimical words not appropriate to the greatness of Siva. (If taken as the natural word may also mean ceaseless chatter.) The beautiful city which can bestow grace as soon as one reached that place. We will worship the beautiful city of Pūntarāi praised by poets.

The lady with tresses of hair having natural fragrance, bright white teeth, lips resembling the fruit of the common creeper of the hedges, and a waist like the creeper, the Lord who has a chest in which Uma with the above mentioned attributes is having a half. Having assumed the form of a spreading fire, rose high for Vishnu who has the color of the cloud and Brahma, who is in a big lotus flower, to get bewildered.  We will worship the good Pūntarāi which floated on the surging water of the deluge which rose to reach the sky. (This refers to the Puraṇic story for the derivation of the name of Tōṇipuram, one of the twelve names for Sirkazhi.)
