Verse 6:

O gazelle-like one,
you said:
``On the morrow,
I myself Will come to wake ye up.
`` Pray,
tell us the direction into which your pridian promise shamelessly frittered away.
Has it not dawned for you yet?
Unto us who come Singing the lofty,
long,
ankleted and sacred feet of Him Who is unknown to the heaven,
the earth and all else,
And who on His own free volition deigns to come down To foster us and rule us by enslaving us,
You ope not your lips;
neither does your body melt in love.
Such deportment befits you alone.
Lo,
bestir Yourself and come forth to sing Him who is Our Lord as well as of others,
Empaavaai !

Bhagavan Ramana's own philosophy [which is of course, the only true philosophy of this universe],
is reflected in His own works.  But in His life, He had to meet several people, with different backgrounds/levels of maturity. Therefore He had to water down the message depending upon
the devotee.  These replies, should not be taken out of context. One cannot pick up one or two
replies and say that this is the final teaching of Bhagavan Ramana.

Take this illustration:-

1. Once Dilip Kumar Roy sang some nice songs and then asked Bhagavan whether the music
alone sung in devotion to god, would confer him liberation.  Bhagavan Ramana said:
"Why not? Pursue this with conviction."

2. To Devaraja Mudaliar, who got excited by some Tiruppugazh songs which were sung in the Hall, asked Bhagavan Ramana, whether singing Tiruppugazh alone could take one to liberation.
Bhagavan Ramana said: "O Mudaliar! Go behind these songs and see the mounam, Silence which
is all pervading."

General Discussion / Re: Bhagavan, Now and to Come
« on: December 21, 2015, 01:41:15 PM »
Bhagavan time and again said that the Guru and the Self are the same. Because we think we have
a body we identify the Guru with a body. The Guru takes a form accessible to the sincere sadhaka
to draw him on her into the Heart. If we truly believe that Bhagavan is the Guru, then we should
approach Him, until we truly knows for ourselves, that He is our Self.  By taking Bhagavan as our
real nature the sense of duality is removed. Through effort and grace we become one.

This is why our approach to Bhagavan is important.  If we see Him just as a man, albeit wise old
man, we miss the point.  If by some nebulous conception we see Him as beyond us, we face a chasm
we cannot hope to broach and in that case, Bhagavan may as well be a distant abstraction for all the
good it will do us.  We need to form an intimate bond with Bhagavan.  In essence we create Bhagavan
in our consciousness.

General Discussion / Re: Sleep and Recuperation -
« on: December 21, 2015, 01:30:52 PM »
If we constantly watch a TV screen or computer screen too long, our eyes will tire out fast and over the
period of time, the vision will begin to reduce requiring spectacles.  Many spend late hours before the TV
or a computer screen and to go sleep only after 1 O' clock, which is very unhealthy practice. Or they
may go to parties, clubs, or movies and sleep late which is again unhealthy. If we are sleeping at
irregular times, it will affect the quality of sleep. Some would feel that they have not had enough sleep
even though they would have slept for 8 to 9 hours.

The quality of sleep directly affects the quality of your waking life, including your mental sharpness,
productivity, emotional balance, creativity, physical vitality, and even your weight.  Just as exercise
and nutritious food are essential for good health, and happiness, so is sleep.
No other activity delivers so many benefits with so little effort.

``We know of Annamalai unknown to Vishnu and un-beheld By Brahma,
the Four-faced.
`` Thus you -- The deceptious one in whose mouth,
milk and honey flow--,
Articulate falsehoods in which you are well versed.
Come and unbar the doors of your threshold.
Lo,
the earth,
the heaven and the dwellers Of other planets,
admiring His beauty -- rare to be Comprehended --,
sing of His great qualities By which He enslaves us,
rids us of our flaws And rules us in grace.
Thus they hail Him And chant:
``Siva !
O Siva !
`` Though they cry hoarse,
You whose tresses are perfumed,
do not feel it,
Aye,
do not feel it.
Such is your plight,
Empaavaai !

Then why are these three distinct terms applied to such an indivisible and unitary entity?

As Akasa is all pervading it is not subject to the limitation of space.  But (according to Indian
cosmology) Space originates and dissolves, so it is subject to time.  Hence to avoid over inclusion
(Ativyapti) in description, time is specified along with Space.  Time is not limited by Space.  Nor
is it limited by time, as an entity cannot be limited by itself.  But it is limited by matter.  A substance
present in one period of time may not be present in  another period. To avoid this over inclusion
Atman  is said to be not limited  by matter also.  Atman alone is characterized by non limitation
by Space, Time and Matter.  Hence the specification of the three characteristics.

Today is Vaikunta Ekadasi.  This Ekadasi is considered to be the most important one.

I have no right to write about it.  I am eating as usual because of my diabetic problem.

My wife fasts the whole day.

I request Atmavichar to write  about Vaikunta Ekadasi.

Dear ramanaduli,

I am not aware correctly.  There is one temple on the way from to the Temple.  It is a small
temple of Siva and they call it as one built by  him.

வென்ற பேரொளி யார்செய் விழுத்தவம்
நன்று கேட்க விரும்பு நசையினோம்

Hearing this they worshipfully beseeched him;
?Great is our desire to hear of the gloried tapas
Of him who blazes forth in triumphal lustre great!
May you, in grace, be pleased to narrate it.?

You, Our Lord, never adore aught but the lotus-feet
Of Sambhu; what may this be??
Thus questioned, he said: ?Nambi Arooran
Hath enshrined in his bosom the great Lord;
He is verily worthy of our adoration.?

மெய்யில் ஆனந்த வாரி விரவிடச்
செய்ய நீள்சடை மாமுனி செல்வுழி
ஐயம் நீங்க வினவுவோ ரந்தணர்.

As the great Saint of matted hair -- long and ruddy --,
Folding his hands in adoration rose up and walked
Toward the direction whence gushed forth the great light,
All athrill, as if immersed in a sea of joy,
The holy ones, to have their doubt resolved,
Implored him thus:

Thereupon the Saint invoked in thought the feet
Of the Lord -- the wearer of the crepuscular crescent --,
And said: ?By the grace of our Father,
He who incarnated in the South as the Lord of Navaloor
-- Gloried Van-Tondan --, doth now return.?

Before them all, gushed forth a growing light
With the great brilliance of a thousand suns;
The great tapaswins pure and others
Who sat encircling the Saint
Marveling said: ?What wonder is this!?

The Saint, of yore, was fed by the Ocean of Milk
By the grace of Lord Siva, the Father;
He grew solely sustained by the milk of Siva?s grace;
Myriads of holy Saints and Suddha yogis sat encircling him.
