For instance, Bhagavan's words quoted in Section A convey the profound teaching that Realization is not
something to be acquired anew after a strenuous sadhana, for anything which comes afresh is inherently
ephemeral and shall inevitably pass away.  Therefore Bhagavan never accepted the very word 'Realization'
per se of the Self. He avers that the Self is ever real, the Self being the only Reality, one does not have to
make It real or 'real-ize' through sadhana.

He pointed out the word unwittingly sends a wrong message that one has to 'real-ize' the Self or make it
real by one's efforts.  Bhagavan humorously remarked that we have only 'real-ized' the world' meaning
'we have made the unreal world real', while ignoring the ever real Self.  (Day by Day, p.181 of 2011.)

So Bhagavan repeatedly exhorts us to 'unreal-ize' the world and then spontaneously the Self will shine
forth' from the muffled depths of our own being!  In Nan Yar?. He says unless we recognize the world
as a dream like illusion, the true nature of the Self (Svarupa) cannot flash forth within, just as a rope,
cannot be recognized unless we shed the delusion of the snake superimposed on the rope which alone
exists.

A question raised in Vedantic philosophy is this:  Can you attain and keep what you have not already attained,
or, to put it slightly differently, can you attain what you already have?  If you are going to get something
that you did not have before, what good is it?  Since you did not have it before and get it now, there is
every possibility, if not actuality, that you will lose it at some time in the future.  Anything that comes
necessarily goes; that is the law of the universe. And the question of getting what you already have is
ridiculous, is not it?

This so called gaining of the Self has often been compared by Bhagavan to the gaining of a necklace supposed
to be lost.  A person imagines that she has lost her necklace while all the time it is round her neck.  She goes
frantically searching for it here and there.  A friend comes along, inquires as to what was the object of
her search, notices the necklace around her neck (the very person who is the victim of a delusion),
and points out her error to her.  She jumps with glee and joyfully exclaims, 'I have got my necklace back.'
Did she ever lose her necklace?  Did she gain it afresh now?  She merely obtained the already obtained.

Verse  540:

Sometimes the signs of a knower of Brahman are his clothes --sometimes precious clothes, sometimes
clothes of deer or tiger skin, and sometimes clothes of knowledge.  Sometimes he behaves like a mad man,
and sometimes like a child.  Thus he wanders in this world.

Verse 541:

Ever desire-less in all the enjoyments, alone, always without a companion, thoughtful, always satisfied
in the Self, living always in all, he wanders in this world.

Verse 542:

Sometimes he appears like a fool, sometimes like a wise man, sometimes as a king -- full of possessions
-- sometimes as an ignorant man, sometimes quiet, sometimes as that great snake that attracts with its
mesmeric power, sometimes like a worthy man very much respected, sometimes in servitude, sometimes
unknown -- the wise one wanders thus, always delighted in the Bliss Supreme,

Verses 543, 544 and 545:

Without riches, yet always content; helpless, yet full of power; without enjoyment, yet ever content;
not like others (he cannot be compared to ordinary people), but seeing equality everywhere; engaged
in actions, yet enjoying not; living in the body and yet without identifying with the body;  and though
finite, yet all pervading -- this knower of Brahman is never affected by pleasure or pain, good or evil.

Verse  183:

He, the godly child whose lips are red as coral
And who ceased to weep when the Goddess-Mother gave him
The nectar of Gnosis in a cup of ruddy gold,
And Tirunavukkarasar -- two divine individuals
Of exceeding glory and splendor --, had met;
The servitors of Siva who were blessed to witness
This holy meeting, delighted beyond measure,
Spoke such hallowed words that caused
The increased pervasiveness of Sivam through the whole world,
Praised and hailed by the very celestial beings.

He that wept and thereby drew to him
The Rider of the Bull, came before him adoring;
In melting love Tirunavukkarasu moved
Into the midst of the devotee-throngs
And fell at his feet in flawless and spiraling love;
Him he lifted up with his flowery hands ineffable
And adored; when the godly child addressed him:
"O father!" he replied:" Behold your servitor!"

Devotee-throngs came surrounding him;
His hands were poised in adoration; his holy person
Blazed with the holy ash; from him poured forth
Visible mercy that thawed the minds of the beholders;
Thus, even thus, Tirunavukkarasar who in the past
Reached ashore from the billowy sea
In a stone that served as his float --
The lord-author of the munificent and indictable
Gospels of Tamizh --, came near Tiruppukali.

Verse  179:

That very moment he adored the ankleted feet
Of the Ambalam?s Lord-Dancer, and took His gracious leave;
Falling prostrate on the divine street that does away
With the falsity of embodiment, he crossed it
Rolling clockwise; thus departing, he came
To the bourne of the divine city which pervades all places
With its ethereal essence, and there adored it;
On his way he visited Tirunaraiyoor where the Lord
Of the ineffable glory abides, and hailed it,
And moved onward hymning.

Even as he drank the nectarean milk of the Mother,
He was blessed with the valiance to hymn and hail
In munificent garlands of the seven-fold Tamizh-music
The Devourer of the venom of the ocean-stream, thus:
"Behold Him, my Lord-God!" Eke could he at Him point;
When he heard this glory of the great one
Of Sirakazhi, wondrous love welled up in him;
In his mind blossomed a loving desire
To adore his ever-glorious flower-feet.

By the grace of the Lord who rides the red-eyed Bull
And who is enshrined at Tirukkazhumalam
Which floats unharmed even when the worlds end
During the great deluge, the Child of the Gospels
Was fed by the Daughter of Himavan, with her
Breast-milk lovingly mixed with Gnosis which
Fosters, augments and total confers Sivam;
From the devotees he heard these tidings divine.

He sang a decade of rich Tamizh hymns wrought
Of beauteous words of supreme truth, wondrously thus:
"The ruby-red matted hair of the Lord is verily
A terrace whereon the moon sheds its rays!"
His heart of love melting, his eyes twain raining tears,
His lips articulating His praise and himself engaged
In service, he spent his days.

Here he began his decade thus: "He is the rare One!"
Thus in redemptive Tamizh he hymned the great
Tirutthandakam inseparable from devotees' minds;
He adored the Lord that dances in the Ponnambalam
Whose blazing effulgence extends to all the worlds,
And hailed Him with more and more hymns in Tamizh.

He left Tirukkazhippalai where the billows of the sea
Shore up chanks into the yards of houses,
And as he passed through the cool gardens of Punnai
Whose branches are studded with buds,
He sang the decade whose import is as follows:
"Can I thrive or survive even for a second, forgetting
The Lord-Dancer of the Ambalam who willingly
Gets enshrined in the hailing mind?"
Thus singing he reached Thillai.

General Discussion / Punar vasu vannam:
« on: April 14, 2016, 07:52:16 AM »
Today is Punarvasu star day.  Punarvasu is also the star of Bhagavan.  Today, being Tamizh
New Year day and also Punarvasu day, there will be special abhishekam, alankaram and arti
for Sri Ramaneswara Mahalingam. The Asramam authorities will arrange the golden casket
on Sri Ramaneswara Mahalingam and the pujas will be done followed by a lunch with sweets.

Punarvasu is also the star of Sri Rama.

Sri Bhagavan was born on a Punarvasu star day in the month of Margazhi.  Every Punarvasu day
is celebrated in the Asramam with special pujas for Sri Ramaneswara Mahalingam.

Muruganar has sung a decade on Punarvasu Vannam, the beauty and greatness of Punarvasu star.
