General topics / Ashram Vibrations
« on: April 12, 2009, 07:45:28 PM »
This morning I visited Ramana Ashram and meditated, rather tried to meditate, for half an hour.

The duration it took to silence my mind was lesser as compared to the duration it takes normally.

The ashram meditation hall has  such a presence/vibration/energy... whatever you may choose to call it.

I long to visit and meditate there very often.

The teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi / Name of God
« on: April 05, 2009, 09:02:23 AM »
It is said in Brihadaranyaka upanishad that AHAM is the name of God.

The first letter in Sanskrit is A (as in AHAM) and last letter is HA.

So, AHAM encompasses all. God is the begining and God is the end.

General Discussion / How to manage profession and spirituality
« on: April 03, 2009, 10:01:08 PM »
I don't like my job as it takes away all my time. There is no rest even at home. Phone calls chase you even after you come home.

the mind is ever active during the day whereas our aim is to calm it down. we have to play two roles at the same time. how is it possible?

I sometimes feel I am a misfit in this professional world, no burning desire to achive anything.

How long does an engine run without fire??

Just rolling along  without any aim.....dont know how long I would continue doing this formality(job).

I get half an hour in morning for japa and enquiry on week days and on week ends I get two full days.

Attention to family taks away the remaining two days.  ::)

God save me.

General Discussion / materialistic desire
« on: April 03, 2009, 09:51:06 PM »
In talks with ramana maharishi there is a conversation between a devotee and Ramana on materialistic life.

We acquire worldly possessions inorder to be happy. does happiness increase with increase of of our possessions?
No. Actually the happiness decreases with increase in wordly possesisons.

The conclusion is that happiness resides in ourself and not in the objects we desire.

General topics / Flash of light atop the hill

I have seen flashes of light on the peak of the hill during night couple of times.

Anyone else seen those. What could it be?

General Discussion / Satsang without master
« on: February 19, 2009, 07:36:49 AM »
Some times I used to think how lucky are they who met Bhagavan at least once in their lifetime.
Blessed were they who automatically experienced the state of bodyless-ness ( absence of dehatma buddhi) in his presence.
Blessed were the ones who experienced Samadhi in his presence.

I used to feel how unlucky I was for having not got the opportunity to meet Bhagavan.

When I was searching for spiritual direction I was pulled by Bhagavan into his teachings.
This makes me think whether I had practised self-inquiry in past birth or atleast met Bhagavan once in my last birth.
May be I have to console myself like that.  :)

Sometimes the heart yearns for Bhagavan's darshan but Bhagavan considered visions as unreal.
Bhagavan says Guru need not be in physical form.

How can I practice satsang without the master's physical presence?
There is none in today's world with the yogic might of Bhagavan. May be they are hidden from public sight.

General topics / Lost photo of Bhagavan
« on: February 13, 2009, 01:05:55 PM »
Couple of years back I stayed at the ashram cottage for the first time.
I entered the cottage (opp. the ashram) and placed my luggage in the room and decided to inspect the premises.

When I came out a old Andhra gentleman called me and handed over a big photo of Bhagavan and said "It is not me who is giving the photo to you but Bhagavan who has chosen to come to you"

I could not control my emotions. I literally wept in thankfullness to Bhagavan for the gift.
That gentleman had many such photos and was giving away randomly to others.

Unfortunately I lost the photo. I have been searching nook and corner of my house but in vain. I am really cursing my self for being so irresponsible.

I can always buy a similar photo from the ashram but want to get the one I got as a gift.
Can anyone suggest a method to find lost items? Any mantras?

Thanks in Advance,

General topics / Prophecy by muruganar
« on: February 10, 2009, 12:46:36 PM »

I have read somewhere a prophecy by Muruganar (Bhagavan's foremost disciple) which says that " Bhagavan's real power will be felt by the people only after couple of hundreds of years".

Does anyone have the full text of what he said? What did Muruganar mean when he said that?

Thanks in advance,
