Arunachala / Re: Strange Experiences - What Does It Mean ?
« on: September 06, 2009, 09:06:58 AM »
Hi,

It is good to know that you were able to do self-inquiry for 3 continuous days.
We have to ignore the visions that we get during the process and enquire who sees them.

It is difficult to interpret visions and give proper meaning to them.

Munagala

Dear Nagaraj,

first of all I wish you all the best for your endeavours.

Discussion forums are for clearing doubts and sharing views. It will not give self-realization.

I accept your point in a way.

Sometimes you do get some pearls here..some stories that would inspire you...
We should take what is required and reject tinsel.

That's all is the use of a forum.

anyway nice talking to you on this forum..

Regards,
Munagala

Dear Srkudai,

Swami vivekananda says that you are the creator of your own destiny.
It implies that there is something called destiny and all our sages have agreed to it.

You have quoted yoga vashistam as an example.
See what was the state of the person who said it and from what stand point they made it.

For a realalized soul there is no birth, no death, no destiny... nothing.
As long as we believe that we are born and we will die we are governed by destiny.

Have we achieved all that we had intended to achieve?
How many times we have been in situation where we were helpless and prisoner of the situation?

This is an evergreen topic.  :)
regards,
Munagala

Dear Ramadudli,mohan,vinita,

Everyone in this world wants happiness/pleasures.

A materialist toils hard in pursuit of happiness and finally finds his happiness is limited and material this cause more pain than happiness. Yet he is unable to stop his pursuit as the mind is conditioned for pursuit of worldly things.

A spiritualist is also in pursuit of happniess which is permanent.

If anyone asks you "why are you wasting time in this poojas etc" ask them "what are they working for and what is the end goal?"

Why should we feel shy in what we do and believe? There will always be someone in our friends/relative circle who will ridicule us or brand us as useless, mental etc.

Let us not bother much about what others have to say.  If you read Bhagavan's life history, his mother begged Bhagavan to come back to worldly life. But Bhagavan was solid like a rock and his mother finally gave up and followed his way.

Munagala

General topics / Re: intution is good or bad

Dear Ramandudli, Vinita,

As we gain concentration of mind the mind develops some minor and major siddis.

Intuition is one such thing. Do not pay attention to it much as it will distract us from the path.

Intuition is bad when you start knowing things in advance and it spoils your peace of mind. We should restrain ourselves from predicting for others.

Munagala

Very true.
It all depends on the grade of the aspirant.
A matured aspirant will attain the state after hearing the truth once.

Ordinary mortals like us fall into the trap of outgoing mind and crave for answers from books.

Arunachala / Re: THE 'I' CONCIOUSNESS

Death is nothing but a long sleep before we wake up in  a different body(bookish knowledge  ;) )
We should consider it to be a relief rather than something to be afraid of.

I think we should cultivate this thought in us so that we  leave teh body peacefully.

Dear Subramanian & Sky person,

The point I was trying to make is that good and bad are only relative.
Whether you do good or bad actions the fruit of the action has to be borne by you. Either way the resultant karma has to be exhausted.

I feel that thoughts have to avoided altogether as Subramanianji has mentioned.

For a Jnani there is nothing called good or bad.

Munagala

Ramana says that thought is born out of sin. How do I classify a product of sin as bad or good?  :)

Dear Karthik,

Nice to know about your tour.

We also go to temples, ashrams to find some relief from the pressures of materialistic life.

If we look at all incidents as act or wish of God then we will not complain or dislike it.

In another thread someone asked how to deal with dislikes. This is the way.

Sambu

Dear Paintbrush,

I don't know the meaning of this mantra. I tried searching in google for the meaning but of no use.
I know some of the forum members know sanskrit.

Let us see who gives the meaning.

The word Vish-nu means omnipresent. The word Shiva means consciousness.

Is not consciousness  omnipresent?

Dear Karthik, don't take the literal meaning of the names of Gods.
