Title: What are thoughts?
Post by: Jyoti on April 07, 2012, 12:50:29 PM
When nothing but the self exists, then thoughts also must be part of the self.
But thoughts keep us from residing in the self.
So what are thoughts?

Dear Jyoti,

Sri Bhagavan says in Who am I?

"Mind is an wondrous power that rises from the Self.  It produces all thoughts. If you remove all thoughts, there is no separate
thing as Mind. Hence only thoughts are the Mind.  Without these thoughts there is nothing like World. In deep sleep, there are no
thoughts and no World either. In waking and dream states, there are thoughts and the World too. Like a spider weaves its own web
and then withdraws it, the mind also weaves its own thoughts/World and then withdraws them.  When the mind springs forth from
the Self, the World appears. Hence when World appears, the Self does not appear (does not get experienced)."

So, Jyoti, you should understand that mind is only a power emanating from the Self. But this power, though god given, should not
wander around outside but one should keep it always indrawn to get Peace.

The Mind is also called Sukshma body and Jiva.

Arunachala Siva.

Subrahmanyam sir - Extremely well put. I cant agree more with you. Something that comes out everyday morning stays for 15-18 hours and then dies and comes back next day morning cannot be the ever present reality. And as you rightly said even as per Pancha Kosha Sidhantha, manomaya kosha is just one that emanates in Sukshma Sharira.

Thank you, Subramanian sir. I am new to this forum - though a 10 year old ardent Sri Bhagawan follower.
