Dear Udai,

Srimad Bhagavata begins with "satyam param dhimahi", and also ends with "satyam param dhimahi" meaning

"May we meditate upon the ultimate Truth"

It is said that the entire essence of Srimad Bhagavata is found in these 3 words itself. So do the verse in Vasishta too!

Dear srkudai,

While describing karma for chittasuddhi and upasana for concentration, you can also interpose Upadesa Saram verses also.
It is a nice write up. Kindly continue. Sri Krishna says to Arjuna that he cannot but go into war and this was destined for him.
Sri Bhagavan also says, Destiny is always bound to happen. If you have to work, whatever you may do to avoid work, work will
have to be done by you. If you are not destined to work, however you may try, work will not come to you. Therefore it is better to
be silent.

Nochur Venkataraman says: Even if Arjuna is prevented from war, his hands will not remain quiet. He will go to a jungle and keep on
shooting arrows on animals!

yes excellent explanation udai garu and going to heaven does not solve our problems permanently.

our mind may feel bored even if we go to heaven after some time so understanding what exactly is mind solves the issue.

Dear Udai, Prashant, Friends,

the significance of heaven in these verses mean verily the pleasures that we normally enjoy right here in our own home, earth. Good and secured job, insurance policies and investments & savings for future, a good dream house, a dream spouse, ideal children, good position in society, respectibility, etc... these are the heavens that is to be understood.

These all arises due to our own prarabdha karmas. Prarabhda karma does not necessarily mean only bad things that happen to us, but also the good things that happen to us normally without any effort, say, if our lives are going freely without any trouble, that is also due to prarabhda only. Beware, this smooth ride is not permanent warns the Sage!

The Sage says, beware, these are not the end in itself, these are also bound to end very soon. All these things don't last, the good as well as the bad things that happen do not last.

We normally tend to hang over the good things of our life, job, family, friends, money, etc.. hoping that they would keep us secure, but, beware, says the Sage, it is all not going to last and once the Prarabhda Karmas for your good time ends, it shall all pass away and you will be back to square one. Therefore, do not consider these heavens as the end.

Upanishads sing,

न कर्मणा न प्रजया धनेन त्यागेनैके अमृतत्वमानशुः

Na Karmana Na Prajaya Dhanena Thyagenaike Amriatvamanashuh

Deathlessnes is not obtained through action, or begetting offspring, or wealth. Immortality is attained only through renunciation.

Therefore, like the Sudoko Puzzle can only be solved by cracking it with proper application of our mind with viveka to arrive at the goal. Therefore, we should not take our comfortable life as the end in itself. They are all like the passing clouds, the good as well as the bad things. All good things and bad things are not permanent!

We normally strive towards these worldly heavens, by study hard, get good education, become worldly smart, etc...

The Vedas have 2 kinds of education, Para Vidya and Apara Vidya

all the worldly education that gives us heavens is Apara Vidya and Atma Vidya is Para Vidya.  The Vedas say, Apara Vidya Avidya, Worldly education is Avidya or Ignorance, they sing! The education is incomplete without Para Vidya or the knowledge of Atma.

Yes. That is why Aham is the nearest of all. Mumbai is far off. London is far off. But Aham is the nearest which can be attained
through direct path, the shortest path. Further, to see Mumbai you need money to travel, you need good health to go there.
You need someone to guide you. Here Atma needs no money, no good health, none to guide. It can be realized here and now
without any accessories. That is why Sri Bhagavan had said: Aye, it is very easy. Atma Vidya is very easy. Atma is the running thread
that connects all jivas, like a thread that has got all rubies connected to it. It is like a flower garland where the thread connects
all flowers. It is also in between two thoughts. There is a very very small gap between two thoughts. A tiny moment of silence.
This tiny moment of silence is Atma, I-I. When one conquers all thoughts, then there is only Silence., Silence is another name for

It is between two thoughts.
It is easy to attain.
It needs no guidance, an ancillary support.
It connects all jivas.

Dear Friends,

Here we have to be very cautious and alert. Before we proceed further, we have to see if we really fit into the shoes of Aristanemi, that is absolutely realised the futility of kind of living that he was living, and, unlike Aristanemi, we still derive happiness from objects. We have to question ourselves whether we can yet say that I do not require the heavens. Otherwise, generally, if we just proceed without sorting out the kind of heaven that we are in currently, a Sadhaka generally tends to get into some sort of spiritual depression, where he would begin to suppress himself without proper knowledge the objects of his happiness.

Unless, we sort out and are fully clear that the external objects are only a source of suffering, really, genuinely, one should not take the words of Vasishta or anybody on face value and proceed just because they say it.

Now, after having heard or read in books, if we begin to suppress ourselves, by shunning everything that is worldly, we naturally get depressed, and we should not make a mistake of considering that it is SUFFERING, this is ignorance. And, the Sages are not referring to this Suffering as a qualification. The Sages say, one has to get VIRAKTI, and VIRAKTHI has to transform into VAIRAGYAM. Virakthi and Vairagyam has to be properly understood.

There is difference between ordinary suffering and Virakthi and Vairagyam. This is very important. Otherwise, if we just proceed blindly, then, it is truly ignorance!

The progression has to be natural, one should not force oneself the spirituality, one should not force himself with the ideas that external objects are to be shunned, even though it may be still necessary for him! One has to be cautious and exercise wisdom in determining where one stands and wait till the fruit ripens further where it will fall of its own accord, then one truly gets into the shoes of Aristanemi.

When the student is ready, the Guru Arrives. Now we have to be wise enough to know ourselves, have we really discerned enough to become a worthy student. Until then, one has to perform ones own duty, Swadharma. When we are genuinely ready, the Guru arrives on our palm.

In the case of Aristanemi, he was a worthy student and ready too, hence Guru arrived to him. But, lets not forget that even Aristanemi had to wait, it does not happen as quickly as it seems in the verses!
