Title: Vasudeva Sastri's recollection about scorpion climbing up over Ramana's body
Post by: ramana_maharshi on June 16, 2010, 01:10:44 PM
Vasudeva Sastri recounted another incident, which he had seen:

“One day, when we were at Skandasramam, I was aghast to find a scorpion climbing up over Bhagavan’s body in the front and another at the same time climbing down his back. I was terrified and wanted to do something. But Bhagavan remained calm, as if nothing happened, and the two scorpions, after crawling over his body as if over a wall, eventually left him.

After they left,

Bhagavan explained to us, ‘They crawl over you just as they would crawl on the floor or a wall or tree. Do they crawl over these, stinging as they go? It is only because you fear them and do something that they fear you and do something in return’.”

Dear prasanth,

Fear is the product of one's ego modifications.   A self realized man
who sees no duality and has no ego does not fear anything.  Vasudeva
Sastri, whom you mentioned, also was there, when a tiger was sighted
near the tank and he came back running for Bhagavan's support.  Bhagavan Ramana said:  Why are you afraid of the animal?  It has
come to drink water.  The Hill and the forest are their places.  We are
the usurpers".

After a few minutes, the tiger roared once again and Bhagavan
Ramana said:  See, he is informing his return to its cave. But it
is no longer there in the tank.

On another occasion, when Bhagavan Ramana had His second death
experience, near the Tortoise Rock, Vasudeva Sastri was present.
As usual, he became afraid, embracing Bhagavan, with tears. Bhagavan Ramana sat silently on the rock and after a few minutes,
He experienced the return of blood circulation, with the body slowly
turning back red.  His vision improved and the white sheet before
Him slowly fainted and He could see the Hill and the trees.  Then,
He moved back to the Cave with Vasudeva Sastri.

down and went away.
