Title: Bhavani Ashtakam of Sankara
Post by: Subramanian.R on July 20, 2008, 06:05:57 PM
Bhavani Ashtakam of Sankara, is a eight verse composition of
Sankara, praying to Bhavani the concorporate of Siva.  A sample,

Verse 1, "No father have I, no mother, no comrade,
No son, no daughter, no wife and no grandchild,
No servant or master, no wisdom, no calling,
In Thee is my only haven of refuge,
In Thee, my help and my strength, O Bhavani !"

Verse 4, "O mother!  Of pilgrimage or of merit,
Of mental control or the soul's liberation,
Of rigorous vows or devotion, I know not,
In Thee is my only haven of refuge,
In Thee is my help and strength, O Bhavani!"

This is exactly our plight and Bhagavan is only our
help and strength, haven of refuge.

Arunachala Siva.
