This image shows the note left by Bhagavan in 1896 when He left home for Arunachala; written in pencil on a scrap of paper it has suffered at the hands of time and climate.
The paper is badly discoloured due to its being pasted onto a card backing which has browned over the years. Some years ago this note along with its backing were encapsulated with a semi-opaque material to prevent further exposure to the climate. This has proven to be a poor choice because the encapsulating material is glued to its contents and acts as a diffusing element for the already faint writing.
The utmost has been done to produce a legible image from what can only ever be a very poor quality scan ... the scanning was carried out a number of times to produce the best possible base to work from. The dark brown and yellow discolouration has been reduced as far as possiblefrom the paper and the writing has been highlighted as much as possible, whilst still retaining the overall contrast of the note.
